photoblog image Eagle with Dinner

Eagle with Dinner

Another shot of the eagle from Wednesday's drive through the park that I showed on Boat Friday. This was from the same camera and I don't own a tripod, so I was pleased with the shots. It is pixellated with the secondary zoom, of course.  I have some where the dinner was still recognizable as fish.

It's a walk in the park on An Island Walk.

She's a beauty...even though a bit of a messy eater!

Fine shot, Mary.

If you had been struggling with a tripod she probably would have finished her fish dinner and faffed off before you made a shot!
Mary MacADNski: She was there a long time, still there when I left.

Nothing would stand an earthly chance against a killing machine like this Mary!
Mary MacADNski: That is an accurate description, Chris. To think they were nearly extinct from the years of DDT.
I think you've done very well. I would be proud of myself if I'd taken it.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Sheila.

Mary MacADNski: You would like it cooked first?

That fish never stood a chance against this mighty Eagle. Like Ray says a tripod would have been a hindrance, I would never have got it set up quick enough smile
Mary MacADNski: I've never used a tripod. I guess they are not instantly set up.
A very nice shot Mary. It was great that the bird stayed there whilst you manage to get such a good picture.
Mary MacADNski: It was a rare place to see an eagle.
Lucky you, Mary, to catch him at dinner time. Do you see many landed eagles? The only ones I've ever seen are high above me.
Mary MacADNski: Yes , I see landed eagles in the country but never in Victoria Park before.

I see it likes its food raw.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, not necessarily alive like some raptors.
Oh thats a big rascal Mary, glad I'm not feeding him, great taste in music, again!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks for listening to the music!!!
Still a very good shot Mary despite your concerns over equipment.
Mary MacADNski: I wondered how close I could get. Friday's isn't the longest view but I wanted to see the shortest.
Well taken, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Mate. I am never still and full out is hard.
Well done Mary, finding an eagle eating and getting a shot of it. There doesn't seem to be any challengers
Mary MacADNski: The challenge is to compare the closer view from yesterday's shot. I wanted to see what he was eating and took lots of close ups.
You have done well Mary, too good an opportunity to miss
Mary MacADNski: Exactly. I don't have the best equipment but it is good enough for what I bring.
I've been wanting to photograph a bald eagle for months now. I have seen some but they are way to far for me to photograph them. What a great capture of the Bald Eagle, Great composition. Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Sue. This was unusual and I was lucky to have been there. The complete scene was posted on Friday.
Good capture Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, John. I was glad to have been driving by.
You might find this interesting. Once native to Ireland eagles were hunted out of existence by mid-end 19th century Now eagles and other birds of prey are being reintroduced to the Irish countryside. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sciencetoday/2011/0901/1224303280472.html
Mary MacADNski: In north america they were almost made extinct from DDT, a pesticide.
