Saved Sunflowers

We had the remnants of a hurricane pass through on Sunday night/Monday morning.  The only damage here was to several sunflowers in the garden.  What to do but fill vases with them.

Well rescued, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I have other vases full too. Several plants blew down.

i love sunflowers. At least you're all ok and you got some beautiful flowers in vases now.
Mary MacADNski: Not too much damage on the Island but for a few trees...and probably a few other sunflowers.

Definitely worth saving Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I got vases of several types. Whole plants fell over, out of the ground.
Glad you weren't blown away Mary. Lovely flowers
Mary MacADNski: Not a major hurricane event for us but next door in New Brunswick, there was major rain. Got away lucky this time.

It was not all bad news then?

Amazing colours...never seen anything other than the bog standard yellow....
Mary MacADNski: I have lots of colours. Several plants fell. I'll get another photo of a different vase. I had to save what I could. There are lots still standing too.

If that was the worst that happened, you can count your lucky stars, Mary. I'm so glad for you! Sunflowers in vases. Sounds like happiness.

Lovely shot Mary, glad you weren't blown away.
Mary MacADNski: Me too.
This is a beautiful picture Mary. I love sunflowers.
Mary MacADNski: They are cheery characters, yet very individualistic.

Makes a good photo
Mary MacADNski: I got a few vases full.
My favorite flowers! I love taking pictures of sunflowers. Excellent capture! Mary
Mary MacADNski: You should have been here and helped rescue them. Actually only later did they look nice enough to photograph.
Quite so Mary. They are looking pretty good considering
Mary MacADNski: They had been put in water in the morning. This was evening and they were happy by then.

I would have these beautiful bursts of colour in vases too! They are gorgeous smile
Mary MacADNski: I've been passing them around.
Love the seed heads of sunflowers, good to see them dry.
Mary MacADNski: The birds will eat and spread them here. I won't have to plant next year.
Seems as though you were lucky to get away with such minimal damage, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Yes, other places nearby that were damaged last year were not this year - and my sunflowers got smashed. Just a few degrees in wind direction can make a big difference.
Beautiful flowers, so glad you saved them for a while. Gorgeous colours.
Mary MacADNski: I put them in water before work in the morning. The shot was from the early evening and they were happy by then. Caught early enough as it was a hot day.
What a lovely colour ,so different from the usual ones
Mary MacADNski: They come in a great variety.
I guess that was the hurricane that went over new York Mary, or was it another one. Lovely flowers aren't they.
Mary MacADNski: It was one and the same.

Red sun flowers? Live and learn.
Mary MacADNski: Rusty reds and burgundy reds and every shade of yellow and everywhere in between is how many varieties is available.
But of course that's what you'd do! Wonderful Mary! Glad you're alright.
Mary MacADNski: I picked vases full tonight to bring to people tomorrow.
Hi Mary
Thanks for teking the time to comment on my jelly fish photo. I'm glad you liked it, I took it at the Bay aquarium in San Fransisco on our family vacation this month. We left just before the hurrican hit the east coast, not that it would have effected us way over in California. I have done a trip report and a gallery of shots about our trip on my over two blog sites. Here are the links if you fancy a peek.
