Mushroom 1, 2011

Fall mushroom season is apon us. These first two mushroom shots were taken in New Brunswick last weekend. NB is the one of the neighbouring provinces, one of our mainlands. It is usually a couple of weeks earlier to show signs of autumn than we are.

 

This camera can get some pretty tight shots for it's age, use and treatment.

Mary MacADNski: Thanks, I have other shots of this type of mushroom in my archives.This was my first sighting of the year, a small one.
A beautiful image here Mary, and wonderful color.
Mary MacADNski: I don't usually do macros but thought I'd try. This is a tiny specimen.
I believe it is an Amanita muscaria var. guessowii, commonly known as the American Eastern Yellow Fly Agaric. Contains ibotenic acid and muscimol but beware, amanitas have unpredictable effects.
Mary MacADNski: i pick only chanterelles for eating. I only photograph the others. This was just a tiny bud coming out of the ground, a macro. We get large ones of this type here too. Beautiful to photograph.

Mary MacADNski: I live for this time but at the same time m mourning the loss of my long time walking partner who dies just a month ago. I think of her on every walk now.

a lovely specimen. I find fungi quite difficult to get a good picture of for some reason. This one is a beaut!

Mary MacADNski: This was taken last week in a forest on the mainland. This is a poisonous mushroom. I love taking shots of them but touch only ones I know are safe.
