photoblog image Big S'hroom

Big S'hroom

I came across this large, strangely shaped mushroom on a walk recently.  I hired a hand model to show it's size which I have linked here: For scale.

She looks woody and substantial, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I've not ever seen one like it.
Well he looks quite relaxed out there in the sun Mary... great capture with the flowers to show the contrast....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I think it surely is relaxed - no place to go, no one to bother it.
Looks like a hat! Great find there - I love big mushrooms they just seem so otherworldly - popping up over night...
Mary MacADNski: This was amazing. I usually show run of the mill type mushrooms but this was a first.

You hire hands? How much?

Interesting discovery. Big thing would fill a pot.
Mary MacADNski: Do your hands look as well kept as my hand models? Apply only if so....
My word it is quite a big one isn't it.
Mary MacADNski: Gigantic and shaped so unusually.
That's an unusual looking one. Big too.
Mary MacADNski: Really odd!
He's tipping his hat at you... I also like her thumb ring on the -for scale- shot.
Mary MacADNski: Perfect hands for the job, eh?

Did you dare eat it Mary, it is a monster alright.
Mary MacADNski: I'm not that crazy, Chad. I enjoyed looking at it and photographing it very much though.

It looks like a baked soufflé, Mary. How interesting! And I LOVE the "scale" image. smile
Mary MacADNski: Ha! It does look like a souffle. How excited are you right now - to be away!

That certainly was some size. The autumn fungi are beginning to show here now, and make the woods interesting. I'm glad you are not going to try it.
Mary MacADNski: I eat only ones I can positively identify - chanterelles and morels.
Yes, a fascinating example of mushroom! I had to look some minutes to recognize its strange shape, my first thought was it could be a sculpture. I'm afraid this mushroom is not eatable but really worth to be photographed!
Mary MacADNski: I love to photograph mushrooms. I'm afraid this is not a great photo but a snapshot taken on a quick walk.
Wow Mary, you've got a real big one here. Very well taken!
Mary MacADNski: It was very large!
