Seconds Count

This is the first shot of 2012 and I didn't get a second chance.  I put the camera to my eye to get the two eagles sitting on the tree.  By the time my finger reached the shutter, one was taking off.

Ah but the other stayed put for a lovely portrait! I love the misty background!
Mary MacADNski: It was warm and misty on New Year's morning.

To get any eagles at all during any part of a year is pure luck, Mary. As in Lucky You!

Happy New Year. It sure was fun Skyping with you the last couple of days. smile
Mary MacADNski: We have plenty of eagles around. Yes the skyping is grand!
Great capture. If you keep having these problems, we can expect a wonderful photo year here. I like the one caught flying, their magnificent flight can be seen perfectly.
Mary MacADNski: I loved this moment and will keep it all year.

A great thing that it took off - brings some action into your picture. Great start to 2012.
Mary MacADNski: I feel lucky to have captured this.
Great capture Mary. A good thing that it took off!
Mary MacADNski: It certainly worked out well.

Just as well for this makes a great picture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I was so glad to get it. A real highlight to a very eventful day.
Good capture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I was quite pleased.
Makes a great shot, though, Mary!

You couldn't have timed it better Mary
Mary MacADNski: I know! I am gobsmacked (Rays word) about that myself.
Wow! Great capture Mary this is a great portrait. Exceptional 1st photo which will be hard to match. Do you know if the pair of birds are mating?
Mary MacADNski: I don't know if they are mating but I know more than one resides along this river.

Lucky you to even be able to see them, yet alone get a picture! fantastic birds smile
Mary MacADNski: It was awesome, Linda.
Actually I think I prefer it this way rather than two Eagles stationary.
Mary MacADNski: I just didn't expect it.
A great capture to start 2012 Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Janet. A complete fluke.

This is brilliant, Mary; one of your best, I would say. The composition is spot on and the fact that one bird is in the air is better than had they both been on the tree. I've seen golden eagles in the US but never been able to photograph them.
Mary MacADNski: Shot in just a second of looking up. I stopped to take a shot of ducks on the other side if the bridge.

If this is your first shot of the year, it really bodes well!
Mary MacADNski: I truly hope that is true.
Wow, Mary, what a fantastic way to start the year. Your timing couldn't have been better. Well done!
Mary MacADNski: I stopped to take shots of ducks and got this on the other side of the road. None of the ducks turned out.
