photoblog image Bella in Hiding

Bella in Hiding

"The longest cat whisker on record measured 16.5 (6 in)."

I have been very busy this week with my grandchildren and am posting this 2 miutes before deadline so excuse the quick choice.  The photo is poor, and should be cropped but this is the situation:

It is in the same group of shots as some gorgeous shots of Kenz that I had planned to post but as soon as I saw this as Bella's reality this week.  She has been in hiding.  The first day of the little one's visit, she picked Bella up and carried he about five feety and put her down.  Bella did not like this at all and only tolerates the child if I supervise.  If I am not directing, Bella is on the run with the child running after her saying, "Meow, Bella."

Bella is probably worried that this "infestation" might be permanent.
Mary MacADNski: She's really glad the dog didn't come too.
I know there are cats that don't mind being drug around by little girls - but I've never had one! I actually think this makes an interesting image - I love seeing her eye through the lattice, very wary and fixed on something...
Mary MacADNski: My nieces had one like that, Otis. Dressed him, rode him around in doll carriages yet he was an unneutered tom, full of scars and old wounds from his life when he was outside. I know others too but have never had one.
Wonderful capture Mary... i am sure that you are having a ball with the grandchildren... and worn out the minute they fall asleep.... Buddy feels a bit like Bella today... our son dropped off their four month old puppy for the week... he never stops until he drops....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I'm not worn out at all and am greatly enjoying the experience. The other grandparents have her for the afternoon today. They offered the baby but I declined and had an afternoon to catch up on some things.

Peepo!! Lovely shot Mary
Mary MacADNski: Not really but thank you.
I like this very much Mary. It sounds like you have captured Bella's personality and current situation just right. Tip to Bella. Keep your whiskers out of the sunlight or they'll see you
Mary MacADNski: LOL. When we do see her, the granddaughter says, Bella hiding.
This story rings true for my mothers cat too, when I visit with my three small (ish) children! Her cat takes up residence in the greenhouse. I like the way the lattice draws your eye to her intense stare.
Mary MacADNski: Bella is getting old too. It is not as easy to jump up to run away.

an unusual, fascinating photo!
Mary MacADNski: Very quickly chosen.
Quite original Mary! I really like it.
Mary MacADNski: Not at all what I had been planning.
Wise cat!
Mary MacADNski: She liked kids when she was younger.

I know you have a busy household right now, and I love your picture. Cat in hiding from the grandchildren smile
Have a wonderful time with them.
Mary MacADNski: I am having the time of my life and am not going to want to return her. The other grandparents have her for the afternoon today. They offered the baby but I declined and had an afternoon to catch up on some things.
A very expressive picture, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: If I'd had time in this busy week, I might have cropped it.

I'm with Bella on this. If I see a small child approaching, I usually run, too smile It's strange that cats seem to have a natural affinity to some people (including those that don't like cats) yet won't go near others. I like this shot very much; it goes well with your notes.
Mary MacADNski: My cats like my sister in law who has always had a fear of cats and detests them near her. She has learned that Kenz or Bella wouldn't hurt her but does not like that they sit beside her or jump on her leg looking for a pat.
