Snow Shoe Love 1

I wish you all an excellent 2013.

May your New Year be filled

with health and happiness.

May your cup be never empty

and your troubles only few.

I picked this shot out of the unassigned bin to begin a series on a day last winter that I would say was my favorite hike of the year.  The day was February 21st and on that day I went snowshoeing twice.  The morning was lightly overcast and the cloud cover was thinning as I walked.  The afternoon walk was in full sun so if there are distinct shadows in the shots they are from the afternoon. I showed a few shots from that day at the time such as those here and here.

I like your view up this tree- and the fungus at the top! I look forward to this series... and to the new year! Best wishes Mary!
Mary MacADNski: It was a really gorgeous day that has stayed with me all year. Even without a camera I would have remembered it very fondly.

That is a very nice thought Mary. You seem to do a lot of walking and that is admirable, I hope you enjoy more this year.
Mary MacADNski: I do like being outside and you can't just stand there. (grin)

A fine winter study Mary. I wish you a happy & prosperous 2013
Mary MacADNski: Thank you very much, Chris. I need all the good wishes I can get.
I hope you have a good year Mary. A fine picture to start off the year
Mary MacADNski: Thank you so much, Bill. The time whizzes by but a lot can happen in a year, eh. The picture is just one of a really fabulous day.

Keep up with the walking - my goal is to walk even more in 2013.
Mary MacADNski: Walking is important in these middle years. It's a use it or lose it situation.

I love this photo - esp. the icicles/Eiszapfen - and I love reading your description - I wish you a lot of such lovely, beautiful days in the new year - and you should share these days with us on SC - I wish you the same: an excellent 2013!
Mary MacADNski: This truly was such a beautiful day and I am really happy to share it with those who would appreciate such a day.

A reminder that we should always look up as well, Mary
Mary MacADNski: This is something I must mindfully do if I am on a rocky shoreline. I can spend hours at such a place and not once look up at the water. I mindfully do so several times now. There could be dolphins and whales jumping beside me and I would never notice, so engrossed in the rocks I am.

In a place like this I have no trouble looking up. A good part of the beauty is above us.
May 2013 be a great Year in all means to you and yours Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks so much, Richard. I appreciate that.
Nice shot, Mary, a day to be remembered, camera or not.
Mary MacADNski: It was swell!

My inner 6 year old wants to climb this tree! I love the lighting. Happy 2013!!
Mary MacADNski: I'll give you a boost.
This is a fine start for 2013 Mary, you I presume get proper snow over there whereas we only get little bits that completely bring the country to a halt!!
Mary MacADNski: Oh yes, we do normally but hardly any last year. This series would show the most we had for the winter. We had our first a couple of days ago- 13 cm.
I could have described this as a worm's eye view, but it appears a little cold for that to have been possible.
Mary MacADNski: The worms are burrowed and huddled down below, safe and warm.

Looks to be my idea of a beautiful day. Bundle up and get out there! Thank you for your good wishes; the same to you and your close ones, too.
Mary MacADNski: It is a great feeling to be in the outdoors. Couch potatoes don't know what they are missing.
The sort of weather I love, nice shot Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It was so beautiful.
I find that the best thing to do when it snows is to resist all temptations to venture outside and instead provide a lap for the cat smile
Mary MacADNski: It was a beautiful warm morning, a pure delight.
Thank you for the kind sentiments and a happy new year to you too Mary. Beautiful shot too
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Janet.

Lovely leading lines...gradation in the sky...so much to draw you in
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Bonnie. I like your warm shot today.
And Horseshoes too, by the look of it. Lovely picture, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I don't get that one, Graeme.
Sorry. A bit vague. What we'd call Horsehoof fungi on the trees!
Mary MacADNski: I've never heard that term.
... ... HAPPY NEW YEAR ... ...
Mary MacADNski: and to you.
One of your loveliest images...
Mary MacADNski: You always say that....
