Eekie

"Calico cats are nearly always female."

This is Eekie, a rescue cat that is delightful, and yes,  female. Her right ear tip is bent and very thin. Some have suggested frostbite but others think it is a congenital abberation.  The colour difference and the fact that it is healthy tissue makes me lean in the later opinion, but I could be swayed.

Gorgeous ball of good luck...in Asia, three-coloured cats are said to bring good fortune to their household.

Last thursday we took all 4 cats at once to the vet for Annual booster vaccination shots...that was a fun outing.

BTW, Mary, I have used your suggestion [stuffing Smokey's head in my armpit while we cut her nails]...works perfectly, and she is now quite unstressed by the procedure and none of my blood gets spilled.
Mary MacADNski: I'm so pleased to hear the suggestion worked for you. I am glad to hear also about the 'good luck to the household' aspect of the lore of the calico.
never heard that statement of them being female
Mary MacADNski: I had heard it along with other genetic traits in cats.

A beautiful looking girl!
Mary MacADNski: She is a delight for a stray. She came young enough to lose most of the fears that strays often have.
She's lovely and a very lucky cat to have found you Mary.
Mary MacADNski: She is not mine but a friend's cat.
A very pretty pussy. Love her fur
Mary MacADNski: She has very soft fur.
Eekie is a beautiful cat. I love those calico markings. The ear tip I look at as a sign of character.
Mary MacADNski: It does give her character. She is one sweet cat. I am enjoying time spent with her.
Lovely shot,of a lovely cat,Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Much obliged. She's a special cat.
A wonderful portrait of her Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Much obliged, Richard.
Using the new camera to good effect, I see, Mary - she's a beauty!
Mary MacADNski: She is a beauty. Haven't been able to pick up the camera but for a night shot about a week ago.
Nice portrait of her Mary... the ear makes her distinct... i like that...
with all of those female Calico cats... there must be a lot of very happy malesgrin....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I don't get what you mean?
Judging from the expression on her sweet face, Mary, I think Eekie has some sense of just how beautiful she is.
Mary MacADNski: She knows she's loved and not stuck outdoors.
What a beautiful cat !

This seems to be a very special cat - wonderful are the differences of colour, her white 'collar', the marks around her nose ... -who could dare it to abandon this beautiful cat before she was rescued. This is one of your best cat photographs!

Either way, it gives her a uniqueness and takes little away from her beauty. I hope it's not frostbite, though.
She's truly beautiful!!! Excellent portrait!
