Mussel Skiffs

When I was rocking/walking on the beach on Sunday two mussel skiffs were out, each with one person aboard.  They were working apart, then together; apart again, then together again. No idea why.

From Sunday till now on Thursday, after a week of hot sun, the landscape has become much greener. We've had a great stretch with the sun bringing many buds to leaf and flower and now are headed for a few days of much needed rain.

The occasional coming together was so they could take turns at the bottle of whiskey they were sharing, Mary...
Mary MacADNski: I truly never thought of that one.

Good Boat friday Mary
Mary MacADNski: Glad ya like it.
Nice shot Mary - you've caught a remarkable blue in this water!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Ma'am
Great shot Mary... my guess is that those mussel fishermen are a strange lot...

Well let's hope he catches something Mary. Y' can't beat a good plateful of mussels
Mary MacADNski: They are farmers and are planting, or harvesting seed.

Astrid's ears are picking up for sure, hearing the word "mussels." I'll save my allotment for her. smile Supposedly we're getting much-needed rain this weekend, but so far it's just sprinkles. Fingers are crossed!
Mary MacADNski: We did get our rain and are very thankful.

smile Mussels, Ginnie is right, I love them and have to eat them at least once a year, (in the right season).
Great shot here, is this salt water than?
Mary MacADNski: It is mussel season year round here, though quality is lower in late spring, early summer. This is salt water. The only fresh water we have are small inland lakes.

These look great on my phone. Will have a better idea on Monday when I get access to a computer.
Mary MacADNski: Hope you liked them.
I do like the blues here Mary....nice shot!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Martin.
Just love mussels. Nice shot Mary and glad things are warming up
Mary MacADNski: I do too. They are farmed in my neighbourhood so plentiful.
The mystery of manoeuvres Mary! Fine capture.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, I was far away.
Interesting, I wonder what they were after catching.
Mary MacADNski: I don't know what they were doing. It is planting season but they are not doing that or harvesting seed or crop.
I love mussels smile
Mary MacADNski: Moi aussi.

it's always interesting to see working boats. Ray may have a good point. A bet the mix of warm sun and the rain will bring on the growth in leaps and bounds.
Mary MacADNski: Mussels grow year round.
Interesting looking craft, The boom is used for lifting?
Mary MacADNski: Yes. There is a lot of lifting in mussels as they are grown in the long line method under water.
A beautiful and tranquil vista Mary
Mary MacADNski: It was a dull day but a lovely and warm spring day.
Perhaps they just felt in need of a chat from time to time smile
Mary MacADNski: I actually think that was it, or I thought maybe they were sharing a tool.
The well known musssel fishing dance, Mary. Surprised you've not heard of it. Nice picture.
Mary MacADNski: I know more about the mussel dance than you imagine.
