photoblog image Friday Afternoon Ferry

Friday Afternoon Ferry

I think I'm awake now and realize it is Friday. I apologize for the poor quality of yesterday's shot.  I am extremely tired and was cross-eyed with unloading and straightening photos. I uploaded the shot quickly without looking at the large picture first.

We planned well. My son, his girlfriend and I all managed to get off work early and went to Nova Scotia on a nearly empty ferry.  The traffic would have been heavier had we started out on Friday evening after the usual work day.

Huh? Nothing wrong with yesterday's image, Mary!

But...today's is better, as I feel I am along for the ferry ride.
Mary MacADNski: Yesterday's was blurry and overly blue. Today, okay and yes, we're about to dock.

Great view from the Ferry! I love the perspective of being inside the ferry with all the vehicles smile
Mary MacADNski: I couldn't believe how empty it was for a Friday.

What would we do with out boat ferries
Mary MacADNski: We now have a bridge to the mainland ( a different mainland) but until 1997, we had only ferries.

Good choice, to go early.
I would have done the same.
Great shot, hope you had a great time with your son and girlfriend.
Mary MacADNski: I was attending an event with all of my kids. It was awesome!

We are on the way with you, Mary
Mary MacADNski: About to dock! Put your seatbelt back on.
Good planning! I love it when things work out that way! This is great, I'm ready to go...
Mary MacADNski: It worked out very well though my son got an expensive speeding ticket.
Thanks for taking us along on the ferry ride with you Mary... i loved yesterday's photo....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: You are too kind. We are almost to NS.

Nothing quite like beating the crowd when you're on holiday, Mary! Let's go see Nova Scotia!
Mary MacADNski: The early start worked out very well!
not too crowded

No apologizing! I like this photo and it reminds me of my last ferry experiences - a bit busier, though!
Mary MacADNski: The apology was for yesterday's blurry and too blue picture. I could not believe how empty the ferry was for a Friday.
Never apologise and never explain as John Wayne said grin

Nothing wrong with yesterday's pic. This one is well taken too.
Mary MacADNski: Yesterday's was terrible and I am happy to admit it. This one is ok.

Travel wise I cannot hold a candle to you Alan.
Mary MacADNski: It is hard to tie that man down. He could be anywhere!

Sorry Mary, I called you Alan. I thought he was now in Canada.
I like the perspective Mary, with all those frames to look through smile
Mary MacADNski: I got some shots of the kids in those frames.

terrific view from the ferry
Mary MacADNski: We're about to land in Nova Scotia. We stayed inside in the air conditioning playing cards. The tourists sat outdoors in the heat looking at the water and views.
Have a good trip Mary.
Mary MacADNski: This was three weeks ago today. I'm home now but had a marvelous, busy time.
You've actually put us on a boat for Boat Friday this time, Mary. Excellent view of the approaching mainland. As a kid, I remember being so excited as the ferry came into dock. Most of the time it was New Brunswick, not Nova Scotia, though.
Mary MacADNski: Being from NB and having had land here since '74 I have certainly made lots of ferry trips across the former ferry crossing. I did not like the idea of the bridge but when I remember all of the hours I spent waiting in steaming parking lots with cranky children, I now appreciate the bridge. With a daughter in NS, I now take this ferry anytime I go over in summer.

Good plan, Mary. I can imagine that these can get very busy at time. Your ferries and those in the Pacific North West always seem more open that those in the UK,. Perhaps your routes are more sheltered than ours?
Mary MacADNski: The openness is due to this being a summer only ferry. Ones that cross in winter have closed sides. This crossing can be rough.

Fancy Chad thinking I was on holiday again!
Mary MacADNski: I wonder why he would ever think that?
This is quite a big ferry by the look of it. Can't wait to get to where you are taking us.
Mary MacADNski: I took only family shots and many shots of the big event we attended the next day. Check out Sunday's post.

That was a happy boat on a Friday, then.
Mary MacADNski: Wed were all happy. I was free of work for a few weeks and going to have all my kids in one place for a weekend. I was a happy gal.
Nice smooth crossing by the look of it
Mary MacADNski: Smooth and hot. We stayed inside in the air conditioning.
Ferries are always quite exciting smile
Mary MacADNski: Since they are a necessary evil to an islander, we don't get too excited.
I like this picture a lot, the way it is!
Mary MacADNski: Yesterday's shot is what I was apologizing for. Today's is fine.
Looks like a sizable ferry!
Mary MacADNski: They hold lots of cars and I can't believe traffic was so slow for a Friday.

Nice shot from the ferry. Hope you enjoy Nova Scotia
Mary MacADNski: I just was there for an event my kids were taking part of and a reunion of all of us in one place. This was three weeks ago today.
