photoblog image Saturday Snow 1

Saturday Snow 1

On Saturday,  30 January morning, we awoke to quite a strange sight.  A storm had been forecast and happened with some areas of the Maritimes getting rain while other got snow.  Everywhere else (PEI) it was inbetween.  All places got Northeast winds, a Nor'easter.

We must have received rain and then snow with the temperature change being just right to create heavy snow laden branches absolutely glued in place.

I went to the park and golf course in my community for some shots until the battery pack in my camera died.

This shot of sky and trees is from home as I was leaving.  It looked like the sun could break through any minute. I was hoping to get shade and sun later. This is sooc - straight out of camera but for large left side blemish on my sensor which I always try to correct.

Now, a week later I have the corrected version and it is much nicer.

Make the best of it whilst it lasts
Mary MacADNski: It has been a nice winter so far but last year winter really just got a start in mid February.
I quite like the mystical feel here Mary!
Mary MacADNski: It was a gorgeous day as you will see.
This is good Mary. If it is SOOC then it is almost a monochrome colour shot.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, I got two only shots in the whole bunch that had any colour at all.
A beautiful shot to start off the series, Mary! I LOVE seeing the sun trying to break through snow clouds - and snow resting heavily on the boughs!
Mary MacADNski: I thought the sun was going to come through but never did but for a few seconds when I was at the park.
It's certainly got a wintry mood to it, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: It was awesome to tell the truth.

A fine sight. The merest kind of the sun somehow adds to the chill.
Mary MacADNski: I was so surprised the sun did not come out as it showed such promise here.

The backlighting works well, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: All natural SOOC here, Ray.
