photoblog image Saturday Snow 2

Saturday Snow 2

On Saturday,  30 January morning, we awoke to quite a strange sight.  A storm had been forecast and happened with some areas of the Maritimes getting rain while other got snow.  Everywhere else (PEI) it was inbetween.  All places got Northeast winds, a Nor'easter.

I lost a large branch off my wonderful pine tree in this storm. It was defeated by the plowman as it was so laden it was in the way.

This is full colour but appears almost black and white, good enough I hope for Black Mondag.

Oh, that's beautiful, Mary! I love to see how smooth a windblown snow field looks, and the trees- though stressed - are so pretty like this! I'm sorry about your tree :-(
Mary MacADNski: I have never seen the snow so glued to the trees. We get this look all the time but never from this cause.
I have seen trees laden with snow like this in my lifetime, Mary. Bad for the trees, usually, but so beautiful. I wonder if I'll ever see it again????
Mary MacADNski: Oh, I would think you will get a cold snowy winter some time. They cycle.

Very pretty but I fear one of those trees has had it
Mary MacADNski: I will check easily in spring.
A pity for the large branch, but this is to make a wonderful image Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I had trimmed the tree to prevent such a thing but with the amount of the bend, it was lost.

Is that your actual branch, Mary?
Mary MacADNski: No, This is in a park. I should have included yesterday's write up.

This is beautiful, not beautiful of course of the lost branch.
I know snow can be a nuisance, but is so DA** photogenic.
Wonderful picture!!!!
Mary MacADNski: Thank you so much. We are in for another storm tonight. It was to start at around 4pm and that is the time now. No snow yet but fierce winds.

It's a gorgeous view! Oh, to see snow like that.... The weight of the snow on branches can be all too much for it.
Mary MacADNski: This was unusual because it was thick ice holding it all on. It was very unusual.
This, without a doubt, must be filed in your 'Best Shutterchance Postings' folder Mary, it is one of the best ever winter shots I think I have ever seen, definitely on SC for sure, it is beautiful.
Mary MacADNski: That is how I do likeys for others but can not do my own.
It is a super sight Mary and I'm glad that you made the most of it.
Mary MacADNski: It was a bit of a rest after shoveling.
Really a fine picture... those tree limbs look so puffy...
Mary MacADNski: They do look so but they were glued on with thick ice. Very unusual. Looks like the normal fluffy puffy but that blows off or falls off soon.

What an amazing picture
Mary MacADNski: The fact that it is photogenic is one of the delights of winter.
Wonderful shot! Shame about the tree.
Mary MacADNski: The branches are overhanging the driveway so I just have to trim more aggressively.
A fine picture with white snow and not blue!!
Mary MacADNski: Not blue because the sky was not blue. The blue is always from the sun and shadows in the sun.
you sure got a Nor'easter Mary... i remember checking the weather in PEI that weekend and mentioned it to you at the time...
that is a lot of snow and a beautiful picture....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: We are in blizzard conditions today (Tues) after already a night of fierce wind. It is winter.

Wonderful...your snow looks tastier than ours!
Mary MacADNski: It was an odd mixture of freezing rain and snow with the snow glued to the base of ice.
