Lightkeeper's Cottage

This is the shute of which I spoke yesterday, the protected entrance to the harbour. This building has been removed and breakwater work has been going on here for several years. It is apon this breakwater that the beacon light sits.

I check on bank swallows on this beach a couple of times a year.

From KristyLee, the same singer as yesterday with an appropriate title.

Simply wonderful with the birds as a bonus Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I got better shots of the birds but only this one showed the structure.

It looks like a bird haven too
Mary MacADNski: Cormorants and gulls both fish here at the changing of the tides.

I can well imagine the atmosphere with the crying birds!
Mary MacADNski: The birds fish this area as fish are moving past at the tides.
This is a fabulous picture Mary, I stare at it for hours.

A very different shape of building to what we we are used to over here
Mary MacADNski: This was not the lighthouse but housed something else. It now sits beside the lighthouse shown yesterday. I have seen it there but never thought to take shots.
What a shame that delightful building is no more.
Mary MacADNski: It has safely been moved to beside the lighthouse.

I like the structure of the lighthouse. The birds certainly appreciate the breakwater.
Mary MacADNski: The lighthouse was yesterday. This was another building on the property. They are now both moved to a safer spot.

The cormorants look well satisfied, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: This chute must provide good tidal fishing as this is a very common sight here.
A very interesting light house!
Mary MacADNski: The light house was shown yesterday. This is an additional building on site.
It has a somewhat church like appearance...if a bit squashed
Mary MacADNski: It is noiw next to the lighthouse shown yesterday.
fantastic !
Mary MacADNski: Thank you - it is from five years ago.
this is a wonderful old wooden lighthouse Mary... you had a variety of birds to capture that day....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: Cormorants and gulls - the opportunistic in shore seabirds.
