Red Beach

I had an outing on Sunday with some friends, one who had never been on the Island.  When asked what she would like to do, she decided she'd like to search for seaglass. My friend knew of a secret beach with lots available.  It is nearby and was indeed full of nice seaglass.  I was more taken with looking through the rocks for fossils. We had Jack and another dog with us and a fine time was had by all.

What a magnificent Beach!
Mary MacADNski: It was a great rediscovery. We were there years ago but arrived by boat.

Jolie scène. Pas facile de marcher sur ces beaux cailloux rouges.
Mary MacADNski: It was very easy. They are flat and are slippery only if they are covered with seaweed.
What a lovely beach Mary!
Mary MacADNski: It was truly lovely and hard to get to so private.
Such lovely patterns these rocks take on!
Mary MacADNski: I took so many rock shots but am making this a short series.

Nice to have it all to yourselves like this
Mary MacADNski: It is very private as it is hard to reach. It can only be accessed at low tide. I was here years ago but we arrived by boat.
I can imagine a LOT to search for there, Mary, on such a cobble-stony beach!
Mary MacADNski: Glass, fossils, driftwood and a new doorstep is all I could think of but a first time visitor was interested in shells and rocks but mostly glass.
The stone looks quite smooth for bare feet Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It is indeed and is not slippery unless it is green.
I think a suitable title for this shot would be 'Ladies at Leisure' seeing as how you had a good time together.
Mary MacADNski: It was indeed leisure but the only sitting was by these three (or five) waiting for me.

Our seas have waves. Always.

Now you know where to find stone for your next building project. It looks an interesting place to go exploring. The bottom picture reminds me of your posts about the sea that is reclaiming land. With such a tame sea, it won't go too fast smile
Mary MacADNski: Out north side has waves after big storms. Most damage is caused by ice movement and high tides during storms at anytime of the year. During storms, we have waves.

It sounds a fun day Mary, hope you found lots of treasure!
Mary MacADNski: I found three great pieces of driftwood, a few rocks and lots of glass.

Looks like a load of fun was had by all. It is interested to see the rock broken up in such a way.
Mary MacADNski: Sandstone makes up the whole island but it changes from soft to hard all over.
What an unusual beach!
Mary MacADNski: Very common for my neighbourhood. Most of the shots in these archives are from a beach about 5 km. by shore away and they are very, very similar. I am 1 km from one and 4 from the other.
A day with friends....what could be better?
Mary MacADNski: Absolutely nothing and we had an sheep farm outing the next day.
It looks more like a ruined building than a beach, Mary. Excuse my ignorance but what is seaglass ?
Mary MacADNski: Seaglass is glass washed and washed by the sea:
