Beach Days 1

I reuploaded this shot as the apply sharpening button seemed to pixelate the shot on my regular monitor.

A Stan Rogers song sung by Laura Smith who I played on Saturday for Elizabeth and Frank.

The water looks solid, Mary...more so than the sand.
Mary MacADNski: I like solid water, must be the CDN in me. I rarely (never) use a slow shutter speed when near water.
In B&W- it's amazing how water can look like other substances... here, molten lava...
A beautiful song..
Mary MacADNski: I love Laura and everybody loves Stan. It is like Joni singing a Van song for me. Something you think you'd never see.

Beautiful leading lines....so pretty in B/W
Mary MacADNski: I like this b/w challenge on Mondays.
Très joli n&b mais j'aurais bien aimé voir cette photo en couleur.
Mary MacADNski: I usually prefer colour but some do a black and white shot here on Monday and I like the challenge of that. Not everything looks good in black and white.
You obtained a great result with this conversion Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard. I am enjoying the challenge of b/w.

The sea looks thick and almost glutinous, Mary
Mary MacADNski: When blue, it looks more like lovely water.

Ray makes a good point; it certainly does look that.
Mary MacADNski: I tend to use a fast shutter speed when near water, just a preference. Some like it s l o w.
It does look a bit oily, Mary, but surely it's as pure as pure can be!
Mary MacADNski: I think next week, like last week, I will put up the colour version. It was gorgeous out there with blue sky and water. You will see tomorrow.

This is a nice b&w
Mary MacADNski: Thanks. Worked okay but if I twiddled, I would make the sky better.
It has certainly come out well here Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It is pretty good. I have only a few photos on this laptop and have found the closest thing to b/w for next week.
This looks really good in B.& W.
Mary MacADNski: The sky is a bit boring but if edited it would be better.

This is a fabulous B&W what great textures and I love the footprints in the sand....
Mary MacADNski: I love this beach. It is close to home and I go here a lot.

A great contrast in texture of water and shoreline.
Mary MacADNski: I like the textures here too. The sky could use an editor.
The sea is as black as black can be like a huge piece of Whitby Jet
Mary MacADNski: I was hoping to hear about the song from you. Stan by Laura...

I have the feeling to sink into the sands - surely a lovely walk along the coast.
Mary MacADNski: This is a lovely beach and it has exciting events all around, swooping, nesting bank swallows and ferries and fishing boats coming in and out.
Very fine b/w work, particularly for the waves...
Mary MacADNski: No work at all, straight conversions only. The only work is trying photos and rejecting them. I find very few that I convert.
The song is beautifully done but somehow it can't quite compare with his wonderful baritone. Imagine it as a duet though!
Mary MacADNski: She is so incredible live. I think that is what it is. She so well knows what to do to a song.
A desolate shore!
Mary MacADNski: A family beach with none of the family there.
