Aniversary

Ten years ago today, I began having my morning coffee while hanging out at a blog I'd recently found called Shutterchance.  The shot below was my first posting.  I saw a theme on the left of the page that listed the theme as poverty so the post was given that name.

From my first blog on I wanted to combine music and photography and have finally found the proper way with the ability to embed YouTube videos on this blog.  Far from being 'photographer' I am still a hobbyist and have no desire to change that at all. I think I like Shutterchance best for that reason.  There are professional photographers here, post-processing experts,  and the likes of myself, all getting along and praising each other's images, different in quality that they may be. It feels like family here. Thank you all for showing interest in my shots over the years.  I realize I repeat the same themes over and over (from apple blossoms to soybeans for instance) and yet you comment on them again and again.

I think too of many people who are no longer here.  I first came here following Chantal from Photo Friday. Aussie said she came here following me from Photo Friday. Some people just disappear.

This bottom version is sung with Danny's wife, Carrie Elkin in the lead.  It is wonderful too.  I can't wait to meet you all some day, my friends.

What a lovely, friendly post, Mary.

I have loved discovering PEI.
Mary MacADNski: I hope others discover it too like we North Americans have discovered Thailand.
Happy anniversary, Mary, you old timer...smile Your first post was a good one, I hope we have many more years posting together.
Mary MacADNski: I did not understand the concept on the first day. I hope we all post together till the end, Frank.

Happy Anniversary! I just checked my archive, and it looks like I missed my ten year anniversary back in June. Of course, as you noted, I took quite a few years off recently so its not quite the same. How time flies!
Mary MacADNski: The fact that there have been two marriages from this site is amazing too. I hope you did not miss that.

Yes Shutterchance has been an interesting journey Mary. Why some people disappear without trace has always been a mystery
Mary MacADNski: Some say goodbye, some not a word. If anyone is still in contact with Chantal please let us know.
Already? I wish I will be seing you there for at least another 10 years Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I hope that is the case too, Richard.
It is a great site and what you say is spot on. I can on here to contact a friend who I knew had been ill. Sadly he has passed away but I still enjoy posting and commenting and enjoying the meet ups we have. I have made some good friends and hope to meet you and others one day!
Mary MacADNski: What was your friend's name? I know of some who have passed away.
This wood reminds me of the state of some of my garden furniture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: This is my deck furniture.
I like your statement Mary - Good on you.
Mary MacADNski: Thank you.
What a terrific post Mary, I can only agree with every word you say about SC., it will be 9 years for me in December and I have enjoyed every one of them, have met some lovely people, and hopefully have some more to meet, including yourself if you are ever able to cross the pond, I know for sure I won't be coming in the opposite direction even though your lovely pictures of PEI really tempt to come and have a look. In the meanwhile I think you started with a great first post, I wonder if it still standing.
Mary MacADNski: The building might be standing. The owner of these horses committed suicide in the years since that, having given the horses away.

This is a funny picture- and I like the red stones which are so typical for the part of your country you live in. I like your reflections about SC and I agree with them. Like you I think sometimes about the persons who disappeared, for example Linda, Tim, Vintage ... you are one of the truest photographers!
Mary MacADNski: I know of Linda, her father who introduced her and then died, I am friends with Tim on Facebook but only Bill after that and Vintage came after Aussie. Vintage came for a visit a month or so ago. I hope I understand true photographer.

A great post Mary - congratulations on your 10 years.

Shutter chance is such a great way to meet folk and discover new places via their images.

Wishing you lots more years of posting!
Mary MacADNski: It is an important part of my day and life and I truly hope for many more years of posting too.

Mine will be June next year and I totally agree with your observations. From the first I was made welcome and I like you miss some who were regular posters. Here's to the next 10!
Mary MacADNski: Cheers to you, Mike. It it both a good routine and outlet, I think.

You have summed it up in a nutshell, Mary
Mary MacADNski: Nutshell. Interesting. Brazil nut, hazel nut, peanut or coconut. Just kidding. Thank you. smile
Congratulations on the anniversary, Mary - you've certainly hung in there! Yes, it's sad that some folk disappear, for one reason or another - I often wonder how Chantal is getting on. I guess some just tire of the game and move on to other things.
Ten years... wow... they have been good ones...go for twenty!
What a beautiful, touching post, Mary! Ten years! Goodness! I do enjoy your company, and consider you a friend. Given how I found my husband 5000 miles away through this very site - and with the support of all of you here - I do believe lasting, loving relationships can be forged between people without being in their physical company... You are one such friend.
