Focus

An old kettle/flowerpot had a frosty morning a month or so ago. By now we could have had anything. (18th)

Update: It is 4:30pm, 27 November and we are having our first snowstorm.  My son and his girlfriend were here and he is about to leave of Halifax Airport to pick up some European business people. He has summer tires on the vehicle and it is a crazy idea but he has to pick up these people and get them safely to the end of Nova Scotia in Yarmouth for a morning meeting. The storm is in all three Maritime provinces. He could normally change his own tires for his winter tire but has to replace a tire ruined at the end of the season and it is not a good idea to have three of one and one of another type of tire.

Nice frosty pics Mary, hope your son stays safe.
Mary MacADNski: I heard that he made it ok. The mainland was getting rain while we had snow but we all got heavy wind.
I LOVE these frosty photo's! Especially the detailed one on top. I hope your son gets his mission accomplished safely.
We're having our first real snow storm of the season - it was falling but not sticking most of today - but once the sun went down and the temp dropped below freezing it was a different story. We've got about 5" now - and expecting 2-4 more over night.
Mary MacADNski: We got our first yesterday too. The weird thing is the whole eastern end of the island lost electricity for 24 hours. My workplace was fine but I stayed home.

Mary MacADNski: We got our first storm with the addition of loss of electricity.

Is this the usual time for your snow, Mary? I trust your son had a trouble-free journey
Mary MacADNski: It is exactly the time we get snow. My appt. is tomorrow to get my snow tires on. Usually the last week of Nov, first week of Dec is our first show.
I hope he is OK with the summer tyres. We are due our first really cold night tonight...mind you that is only -2 C
Mary MacADNski: He made it but had a hard time here on the island. His European visitors had a bit of a wait but they all rached their destination of time.
I hope his journey was successful Mary. I like the shape of the kettle handle and attaché steel, it reminds me of a horse beast down eating grass.

Both cracking images but I especially like the close-up of the handle as the main shot. I was trying some frosty shots last week but I'm hoping for some more frost this week.

I hope your son managed to a safe trip; it's often idiots that cause the chaos in the UK if we have even just a flake or two snow in the UK.
Mary MacADNski: He could see from highway cams that it was rain on the mainland. He had snow to contend with here but made all aspects of the trip successfully. I froze me toze for this image.

That top picture is a winner. Now to find the competition.

Your son's has a predicament. Risk in both options.
Mary MacADNski: He made it! I am not at all competitive with my photos, just being a hobbyist overall.

Remarkable black and white photo, even with your description I struggled to make sense of it until I saw the late colour version below.

Hopefully his journey was a safe one.
Mary MacADNski: He made it late to the airport but on time for a morning meeting, many, many miles from here. It reminds me of his frequent European travels where he drives hours a day to see one operation then turns around and drives back, all through different countries.

I like this too, not as contrasty as all the straight conversions that I post on Mondays. Some time to play would be swell.
Two great shots Mary. I hope your son had a safe journey, no doubt he was under instructions to ring Mum when he arrived at his destination safely, they are still 'our kids' even when they've grown up aren't they. Our daughter and her husband fly back from three weeks in Perth overnight, I will track their flight as much as time allows till she contacts us tomorrow.
Mary MacADNski: He called his girlfriend. smile
Perth, Australia? Oh what a journey. She will have lots to tell.

What an intriguing abstract.

I hope your son had a safe journey.
Mary MacADNski: Ke made it, having a hard time only on the island.
you get up way too early for me Mary... but look at the treasures that you find everyday... your first image had me guessing a caterpillar... life is not all as it seems....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: This was several hours after my getting up, peter. I am not usually here at this time of day though. Here on the eastern end of the island we have had no electricity for over 24 hrs. from our first snow/storm.
Great shot, Mary - looks like some kind of animal!
Mary MacADNski: I guess if you don't know what it is that is quite true.
i like the tight curls, Mary. very effective ib b/w. hope your son made it safely
Mary MacADNski: He hasn't stopped since. His house has had no electricity since Sunday, the day he left and now he is on the other end of the island.

A wonderful closeup image, Mary.

I hope you son had a successful trip!
Mary MacADNski: He made it albeit late. We have had three low pressure systems hit the island since Sunday (Thurs. now) and he has been driving from province to province over the bridge since the ferry which closes on the 15th has been tied up from the stormw.

He is still not home and he lost electricity on Sunday and has not got it yet. Crazy storms so early. I lost another tree.
