Commutations

For about a month we had construction which made travelers have access to only one lane at a time for about a kilometer.  Commuters had to leave early to allow for this. Most morning worked well but some mornings I had time to spare. I showed some of those shots last week.

Doesn't matter what country, cones are the same, a pain!
Mary MacADNski: Autumn is awful because they do none of this in tourist season. Half the population is going through this and weather is a factor they race against.

Wow! This really pops.
Mary MacADNski: Like it should, I suppose.

Hopefully this will be an improvement in the end for you
Mary MacADNski: None whatsoever.
Were they widening the road Mary? I know how inconvenient that can be but how much better on completion.
Mary MacADNski: Two side roads met the main road at angles. Those roads have been realigned to meet the highway straight on and then turning lanes were added on the main road for both of the new roads. You can see one of the new roads on the left of the bottom shot.

Road all ready for the Winter season!
Mary MacADNski: It will be soon.

So frustrating, Mary, but good that you got some pictures
Mary MacADNski: After about a week, it occurred to me I had a camera in the car.

Hope they soon get it back to normal, it can be so frustrating driving in these conditions.
Mary MacADNski: It was terrible for regular commuters. I am one half hour behind the rest and it makes a difference.
I guess this is happening somewhere in the world all the time. To me this junction looks a bit dangerous seeing as how it is just after that left hand bend.
Mary MacADNski: The lines are not there yet. It all makes sense in the end but only for those on the other rural roads - but certainly not something needed.
Can't go anywhere around here without finding some sort of roadworks
Mary MacADNski: On the opposite side of the city at the same time, it was worse - twin roundabouts from the suburbs to the city that held traffic up for hours.

I bet your construction works don't take as long as ours to do a smiler sort of job. Our traffic is much worse than yours, though sad We have perfectly good roundabouts which get wrecked when they decide to put up traffic signals on it. Grrrrr!!
Mary MacADNski: I remember hearing European countries did this work at night - a very sensible solution.
if you have to wait to get through road construction Mary... taking pictures passes the time....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I thought about that after a couple of weeks.
Always a nuisance, but always necessary!
Mary MacADNski: Not necessary at all, this one.

Luckily I have a short commute, but if I ever move out to our suburbs, I will feel your pain. Commutes are already long for my co-workers here, and construction makes them much worse.
Mary MacADNski: Mine is only 30 min from the country to the suburbs.
Sometimes it's good to slow down a bit!
Mary MacADNski: Not on your way to work if you know what I mean.
Some street is always being torn up in my hometown...
Mary MacADNski: Here it is always in fall after the tourists leave.
