I know Mallards are common around the world... but I always find them strikingly beautiful!
Mary MacADNski: Yes, a world-wide species - successful and beautiful.

Looks like a fun place to be a mallard, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: At least one pair produces a nest-full, sometimes two, like this past summer.

Splendid reflections and colors.
Mary MacADNski: A bit of a blur I noticed after uploading the wrong one.

If Mallards were not so common, they would be appreciated so much more
Mary MacADNski: I suppose so, like wood ducks and mandarins. I see a wood duck on average of ocne every five years or so.

Playing hard to get..
Mary MacADNski: Mister rushes right out to pose while Missus hides amongst the reeds and rushes. They know me by now though and know I will not hurt them but nature tells them to protect the female, just in case.
No matter how cold it is, Mary, they still love swimming around!
Mary MacADNski: I always have a pair for the winter.
Probably the best known ducks in the Western world
Mary MacADNski: Very successful for many reasons.
I expect she was hiding from him Mary.
Mary MacADNski: No, the drake came out to pose and divert my attention to protect his duck who went off behind the reeds and rushes,.

The beauty of this male duck is standing out. There are some lovely shades of green.
Mary MacADNski: Mallard green is indeed beautiful. The wrong one was uploaded so it is a bit blurred.

One from earlier this year or is he enjoying a spot of winter sunshine?
Mary MacADNski: No, I have a year round pair and usually a migrating pair. I always thionk of it as a son or daughter to the couple in the pond.
I like how his green colour pops like the green branches in the top right.
Mary MacADNski: Yes there is a bit of green shades throughout.

This is a beautiful scene. Simple but there is so much to see. LOVE the ripples in the water and the reflections.
Mary MacADNski: The ripples make mister mallard quack in the reflection.
Nice reflection of the Mallard Mary.
Mary MacADNski: He is quacking in the reflection. Did you notice?
sometimes the birds are camera-shy...
Mary MacADNski: This fellow was trying to get my attention so I would ignore the Missus.
