Baxter showed up while I was photographing the raindrops that appeared on Wednesday. His textured nose just begged to be a subject.

Weird-looking, at least to me. He probably thinks my nose is weird to me too...
Mary MacADNski: He was just being nosy.
Bien vu. Il fallait y penser.
Mary MacADNski: His nose was working overtime.

I have to say that I've never studied a dog's nose so closely before. Just think of all the receptors in there.
Mary MacADNski: That is exactly why they can smell like they can.

Nice one, Mary.

Our Sooty shows up when I am shooting macros in the garden...she often disturbs the critters I am trying to capture.
Mary MacADNski: I can imagine so. I can hear Baxter's breathing at least.
A bit like my daughters Bulldogs nose but a different colour.
Mary MacADNski: They are similar in that they are dogs whose noses are a major part of their work.
I thought for a moment Brian was saying his daughter had a bulldog's nose.

A very different and fun picture Mary
Mary MacADNski: He gets right in there and would have licked me already id the camera had not been in the way.

If this were in isolation, I don't think I would know what it is, Mary
Mary MacADNski: If you are far from it it is a bit easier.

He is so cute! Great close up too
Mary MacADNski: He is getting old but still needs to know whatever is going on.
There is some serious texture going on there! Great idea!
Mary MacADNski: This family of dog has pushed in noses but very deep receptors. - nose to the ground.
