Warm Snow Day

I mentioned to Chad on Monday how it is possible to be warm with snow still around. This was the day after I made the snowwoman.

This is a class of kids and teachers snowshoeing back from the woods while others take one of the sleighs always on the go. The sleigh shot was taken this day and not related to horse and sleigh shots shown previously. You can see bare arms on kids in the sleigh too.  The weather that week was a wonderful winter break.

Jolie scène de vie. J'aime la deuxième avec l'attelage.
Mary MacADNski: I love watching it all too.
Oh yes, It can be quite warm with snow - it's quite insulating! Good times, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I love watching the different groups all winter with school buses, rented buses, city buses and the like showing up. I am close to another yard though with two babies that I have been enjoying since fall. They have disappeared this week, no doubt just in another area.
It sounds so romantic/idyllic to hear of school kids wearing snowshoes and taking sleigh rides, no matter what the weather is doing! smile
Mary MacADNski: My Seattle granddaughter is away for a week-long camp done through public school. Amazing what school classes get up to.

I too find the combination of snow & warmth a bit hard to get used to.
Mary MacADNski: It is just that the sun and air temp meet to make you warm from exertion. The sun is lovely this time of year.

Were they let out of class to enjoy the snow, Mary?
Mary MacADNski: There are always school buses and private buses here for sleigh rides and their other activities. This seemed 6th grade or thereabouts.

Yes...I have done a couple of 3 day cross-country ski/camp trips, and can confirm there were times when I was stripped down to one layer while moving, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Exactly, Ray! Even without exertion you can get very warm in snow.
Spring is really here in the UK, but, for some reason a little slower in Lithuania!
Mary MacADNski: We are two months behind you but harvest autumn things at the same time. Very strange.
How warm is warm?
Mary MacADNski: Only about 8 degrees that day but it felt much warmer.
What fun it must be to ride on that horse drawn sleigh.
Mary MacADNski: Hearing the sleigh bells (made of brass) on each horse is worth the trip. I love hearing them.
Indeed I note that some of those kids have bare arms, I guess if they are rushing about in the snow they get quite warm.
Mary MacADNski: It was about 8 degrees if I remember correctly but after some walking it feels much warmer.

This looks like a lot of fun and great pictures. Warm and snow that is possible smile Somebody spotted you and waved smile
Mary MacADNski: He was actually a very loud boy who seemed to be leading the noise and fun.

I remember days like that when I used to ski in Utah. I think we say in southern UK that yet again we've had a snow-free winter.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, even less snow than last year for you. It sometimes seems your whole year passes with a narrow change in temperature, truly moderate.
I guess the sun reflects up from the white snow...
