photoblog image Trout for One

Trout for One

My son usually practices catch and release when fishing but he knew that bringing this trout home to Mama would be a good deed.  His friends tease him because he will not clean fish and sometimes one of them will do the deed.  This time, I had to do it myself. The trout was truly delicious pan-fried like this with just salt and pepper.

I have posted this beautiful song before.  This time it is accompanied by Newfoundland scenery, which is where Cape St Mary's is located.

Yes..I could make a meal of this, Mary! smile
Mary MacADNski: I absolutely did and it was so delicious and flaky.
yum... i used to leave the head on but you would need a bigger pan... i had pickerel caught that day two days ago... it was yum too....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: This is my best pan for pan frying but I could have come up for something bigger.
A tasty-looking trout and a heckuva flood...
Mary MacADNski: Nfld is an incredible place to see in various seasons. The trout was delicious.
Nice photo of your dinner! My Mom used to trout fish in a glacial lake at about 9,000' in Wyoming. She'd fry it up in a pan like this. I can't eat anything that resembles an animal. Food just has to look like food to me... So she'd scrape all the meat into a bowl for me - and that was fine! smile

Mary MacADNski: Loved the video. Have seen a few over the years. The gaspereaux seen last week reminds me of just that, my mom removing bones of fish for younger kids.

Mmmmmm... my mouth is watering at the thought. It sounds delicious. Good for you son to get someone else to do the donkey work for him.
Mary MacADNski: I say, "Man up!"
I can eat fish anytime Mary. I remember this song, it is very good and very well sung.
Mary MacADNski: My favorite food is fish and seafood which I eat more than the daily recommended amt. because of mercury.
Thanks a lot Mary, I just caught myself humming that tune when I was looking at another blog.
Mary MacADNski: The main singer left this band after this and the band has never recovered nor did the guy who went solo.
this is a beautiful shot, Mary. i like the spots on the tail and salt & pepper. i have fished and if i caught one, i would not know what to do with it.
Mary MacADNski: I grew up cleaning fish with both my mom in the kitchen and my dad on the riverbank. Every country person should know this skill.
I wouldn't have a clue how to catch them but I have no problem with cleaning them
Mary MacADNski: I wish you were my son's fishing buddy then.
I'm sure that was delicious. Our son caught Mackeral on holiday one year and we had to do the gutting etc.ourselves, by the time we'd finished we didn't really fancy them anymore!
Mary MacADNski: Ha ha. I think I showed a mackerel run my son and I attended almost five years ago. For years we had a family deep-sea fishing trip in summer for larger mackerel where the kids would fish. My kids being twenty years younger caught some biggies.

Well you couldn't have it any fresher than that Mary, even if you did have to gut it yourself!
Mary MacADNski: It was excellent, caught in very good water and yes, very fresh.
Ideal - straight frm the water!
Mary MacADNski: It was delectable.
