I thnk the black and white might be a bit harsh here.

I think you're right. There's a lot more detail in the colour version especially on the fallen tree with the heron.
Mary MacADNski: I got plenty of shots if I get time to play with them.
I agree with you - but a great catch!
Mary MacADNski: This heron feels pretty much at home here.
that is some terrific processing on the first shot, Mary. very good that you got the reflection in too
Mary MacADNski: It is a straighht b/w conversion . It looked better in grey monotone to tell the truth. I took plenty of shots so will play with them.

Yes a little..
Mary MacADNski: The mono grey or sepia would be interesting.
If you stood the first one up as a portrait, Mary, you'd get quite another view altogether. smile
Mary MacADNski: Cropping it to portrait would be very good - very graphic. I am definitely going to play with this bunch of shots I took that day.

Yes, in this case you are quite right Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I've communicated with the others different ideas to play with. I will make time very soon to play and twiddle.
Colour suits this much better for me Mary
Mary MacADNski: Yes, and no music to make up for the pain.

The b&w gives the impression of a shot taken at night with a flash.

The bird can be better seen on the coloured image.

I think so too... However I am impressed with the picture, I know how 'shy' herons are.... a nuisance to make them NOT fly away..
