Joli papillon que je préfère avec ses belles couleurs.
Mary MacADNski: I will guess that many are in agreement.
Just beautiful - a fine image to leave us with!
What a voice!!!!
Mary MacADNski: Such a phenomenon was a delight to experience. She does such a beautiful, simple rendition of this old song.
terrific shot of the wing details, Mary. i think i like the b/w more for its stark contrast.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks. This should have been cropped for the rear wing detail and b/w suits that well.

Always sad to see the last butterfly, and so exciting to see the first in the spring. I saw a Red Admiral in the street yesterday
Mary MacADNski: I brought back a bad to milkweed seeds from my vacation and may be planting some after some research into the local invasive species list. Monarchs need these plants for their young.

I think the coloured pic is way better this time, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: The crop machine should be used for this shot and set to extreme.

I saw a couple yesterday but today it's frosty..
Mary MacADNski: We are to have very heavy winds today, the tails of Hurricane Philippe. I hope the remaining butterflies take shelter.

Pretty markings on its wings.
Mary MacADNski: The crop machine should be used for this shot and set to extreme. Perhaps it could be banned for bad picture of the day.
We have our first frost today so I suspect we won't be seeing any more of these wonderful insects

I don’t think the black and White does the butterfly justice Mary, for obvious reasons. Great song and I like the instruments. There is something very evocative about them.
Mary MacADNski: The picture is the bad picture of the day. I am now listening to other songs by this wonderful singer. For instrumentation you should look at her song Shake Sugaree. What a place YouTube is to a music lover.

B&w looks good, except for subject focus.

At f2.8 you got 1/3200 sec. When hunting critters, keep the f-stop at f5.6 as the median (in this case f8 would probably have worked as well). And aim at the eye. With the settings, plus aiming at the eye - you should end up getting all of the insect in focus, with a side view.
Mary MacADNski: I am advertising this as bad picture of the day, it is so terrible. My lenses and sensor are beyond dirty so I need to use a low f-stop. "f8 is great."
Two nice images Mary, I quite like the B.& W.one.
Mary MacADNski: It makes the right parts stand out, luckily.
the butterfly is dramatic in b&w and exotic in colour Mary... nice treatment....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I got carried away with this one, the head not even in focus.
Beautiful black and white...
Mary MacADNski: The best parts stand out best that way. Thanks.
I had to add--perfect song and video. She appeared in NC recently.
Mary MacADNski: I like this song, looked it up and found this video. Love it!
Wonderful capture, Mary.
