photoblog image Water Circle

Water Circle

While on the Barrie waterfront walk, my cousin noticed this small circular area of calm water. It changes little during the three or four minutes we observed it. We walked over to see if we could see anything at all in the water to have it appear this way but saw nothing. It did not appear oily or anything like it might appear from my photo.

i find it interesting too, Mary. perhaps a different in depth at that spot (deeper maybe?) leading to a thermal gradient or currents. i could be completely wrong though.
Mary MacADNski: We investigated it thinking perhaps minnows or such were creating it.
I suspect extraterrestrial interference... smile
Mary MacADNski: Something I don't understand so certainly a possibility.
Water will do some crazy things - you do wonder what's happening under the surface!
What a beautiful voice!
Mary MacADNski: I truly do wonder. I love Lila Downs and have several albums. I discovered her from the movie Frida.

Perhaps the gull guano is creating this phenomenon, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It was there for a while then was not.

I will ask my son - he studied waves and water movement
Mary MacADNski: That would be swell.(haha)

Often these things, with gulls in attendance, indicate a sewer outlet
Mary MacADNski: This is the public beach I showed with big lifeguard chairs. I can't believe a city would do that.

Jolie vue sur ce joli paysage et les goélands qui se baignent.
Mary MacADNski: Merci, Madame.

The birds seem to enjoy the seaside more than us humans.
Mary MacADNski: It was mid-October, not really beach weather.

Water is always so fascinating and it seems that it has its own life..
Mary MacADNski: I found this really odd. There for a while then gone.
Perhaps there is a large hole there
Mary MacADNski: I showed you shots of the same exact spot last week without the circle. It was there and then it wasn't.

Strange indeed. I am used to long lanes like this indicating currents, but except for the shape, this is way too close to the side.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, very odd to me as well. I showed shots of the same beach without the circles last week.

It seems strange that most of the gulls seem to be avoiding it.
Mary MacADNski: I am not sure that they are.
I wonder what Lisl will find out from her son! Do let us know. And yes, a beautiful voice.
Mary MacADNski: I hope he knows. It as strange indeed.
I bet they have nice views out over the water from those apartments.
Mary MacADNski: It is up that coast that I was staying while in the area. Barrie has grown tremendously over the years.
