Canada 150 Tall Ships Celebration

I was happy to see this lovely display of boats but the entrance system was vert flawed, as I mentioned before.  Anyone with a bag of any kind was put in a hour's long search line. I had only a camera bag so stayed outside.

There must be kilometres of rigging here!
Mary MacADNski: I hope no one tips over and messes it all up.
these security lines are putting us into a hell of an inconvenience Mary...
when the tall ships were in Halifax... that was about ten years ago... i simply walked onto the pier with my camera in hand... and was even able to get onto some of the ships without having to pay or stand in a queue...
i love your tall ship Boat Friday!!

Merry Christmas from Penny and i....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I am okay with security but it was for people carrying bags only. If I had known, I would have left the camera bag in the car. I was parked so far away that it didn't seem worth going back to drop it off. I got some fairly good view from afar.
The lines look all tangled...
Mary MacADNski: Just the angle bit if one were to dip to the side...
I love the mass of masts!!
Mary MacADNski: A very good description of this mess.
a fine mish mash of ropelines and flags here.
Mary MacADNski: Lots to see and untangle.

Tous ces voiliers, c'est magnifique.
Mary MacADNski: I was pleased to see them!
So glad to see The Netherlands represented there, Mary. And yes, I can understand why you wouldn't want to go through a search that demanded that kind of wait!
Mary MacADNski: Yes, two from Holland, beautiful ones too. If I had known, I would have left my camera bag in the car.

I love seeing these old craft
Mary MacADNski: It was a treat for us. They usually bypass us and show beautifully in Halifax where people come from everywhere to see them.

It must have been a very impressive line-up, Mary
Mary MacADNski: I few that were scheduled did not show up but the turn out of lookers was extraordinary.

Imagine all that rigging getting all entangled.
Mary MacADNski: We wouldn't want everyone to go to one side of one vessel....or else.
A fine sight to behold
Mary MacADNski: They were extraordinary for this province. They usually go to by us on their way to Halifax which is where they were going next.
Sadly bag searching is the price we pay for keeping a violent world from killing us
Mary MacADNski: It would have been easy to leave my camera bag in the car, had I known about this. I had just parked a mile away.
Lovely boats aren't they. Sadly modern times nean bag searches and so on become more common these days.

Wonderful ships!

A fine collection of vessels. There must be hundreds of kilometres of rigging visible in this image.

The number of lines in this picture is impressive - but not the one for bag checking. What security minded people don't realise, is that once people have the idea to do harm, they are difficult to stop and they also don't need a bag to transport evil from one point to the next. So they should search all, or leave it. In this system they had, a "pregnant" woman without a bag, could walk through and cause major damage.
