photoblog image Souris Beach Under Water

Souris Beach Under Water

A grey conversion would have worked better here but I try to stick to true black and white. I love the water and stark sun on the houses but the foreground is markedly dark.

My all time favorite version of this song is below.  I have this somewhere but can not find it, same version or one very close.

Très joli paysage marin.
Mary MacADNski: Glad you like it.
It's such a lovely composition - it works in either image.
Jose had a way...
Mary MacADNski: This is not the exact cut that I have.somewhere. I know I have it on a CD that I made but cannot find it.

I much prefer the colour version,Mary.

Jose was a fine performer.
Mary MacADNski: I think the colour is better. If I allowed some leeway with the black and white, straight conversion, the b/w might work better with a twiddle.

Is this a normal high tide, Mary?
Mary MacADNski: It was just coming in on a windy day. We were leaving the beach.

High tide isn't it. I prefer colour
Mary MacADNski: The tide was just beginning to come in on the nearby beach.
Colour works better here for me Mary
Mary MacADNski: A twiddle of the b/w would be better.

The colour image is pleasing but the Black has much more drama. Two songs that I liked very much.
Mary MacADNski: I have a great version of both songs done together similarly.
The two images have a very different feel to them, the B&W is far more threatening
Mary MacADNski: The b/w is a straight conversion. If I had lightened it up a bit it would appear less threatening.
I like both versions of this Mary, I'm not too worried about the darkish foreground. I suspect the background is industrial, if so I don't recall you ever showing us that side of PEI before.
Mary MacADNski: We have very little industry. Heaven does not have industry, Brian.

I prefer the colour version.
Mary MacADNski: I think the feeling is strong in that direction.
One of your best black and whites...
Mary MacADNski: I think it could be dramatically improved with a twiddle.

I bet those properties attract a heavy premium because of their location.
Mary MacADNski: Property is very inexpensive in the Maritimes. That is why many Europeans retire here.
Good in either version!
Mary MacADNski: It appeared much windier than where we were.

The sea looks wilder and rougher in the b&w version.
Mary MacADNski: It appeared much windier than where we were.
