Corner to Poverty Beach

I had often admired this home on a corner of a road to a beach I go to for a certain shell.  I couldn't believe it when Tara, our fisherwoman, told us that it was her grandparent's house, the house her mom and aunt grew up in. The grandparents are gone now and Tara's aunt lives in it. She had it painted this summer in the original colours.  Isn't it gorgeous!

Anyway, early in the morning on the 23rd or 24th of Dec,  K woke up at 4;30 am and was thirsty.  She was drinking a glass of water at the kitchen sink when she saw serious smoke coming from under the basement door. She immediately called the fire dept, (who arrived swiftly) dressed for outside, and got into her car.

It was her furnace that had caught fire and she is now out of the house until all is replaced and repaired. She usually goes to her only sister's (Tara's mom) for Christmas but had to go a day early and for an extended stay. K has been in the background in some of the Boat Friday photos.

It is not a colour I would pt on the outside of a house, Mary, but it does work well on this elegant dwelling.
Mary MacADNski: It has always been red and is a real landmark.

A lovely looking place, thank heaven it didn't burn down!
Mary MacADNski: I couldn't believe how lucky she was.
It is a lovely house. It was fortunate she awoke when she did!

It is a very fine house and is so pristine looking that it appears like a model.
Mary MacADNski: A freshly painted house is wonderful!

What a beautiful house - good that K could help to save this jewel!
Mary MacADNski: What luck she had to wake at the time she did.

Quite a story, Mary. The colour is gorgeous
Mary MacADNski: I know! Tara was here Christmas Eve telling me about it and I burst into tears, the drama of it. The colour has held this landmark for over many, many years.

A colourful building - thank goodness it survived the fire.
Mary MacADNski: It was right place, right time and enormous luck.
How fortunate that this delightful house didn't get burnt beyond repair.
Mary MacADNski: You said it! She has quite a story to tell for the winter.

Ah, yes, that looks a fabulous house. What a time for the furnace to catch fire, though, but it was o lucky that the fire was spotted when it did. A wooden house is of course a great fire risk.
Mary MacADNski: It turned out to be a wiring issue, not the furnace. All is repaired and she is back home.
It's a lovely house - I do hope that not too much damage was done!
Mary MacADNski: All is repaired and she is back home. She is so, so lucky.
I am glad she wasn't hurt--sounds like she had considerable presence of mind! PS--love that song and movie!
Mary MacADNski: I can't get over the luck she had. It could have been so tragic.
A house that puts joy
Mary MacADNski: It is a landmark to a favorite beach too.
