The Lean

With hoards of people at the ski hill, there was a lot of waiting.  I loved my grandson's attitude to it all - just rest your heavy head on the skis.

looks very young
Mary MacADNski: He is five and his sister just turned seven. Last year when he was not in school, he and my daughter went skiing almost every day.

A lot of gear for a little chap, Mary
Mary MacADNski: Safety and warmth first. It is heavy though.

He'll be good when he's older
Mary MacADNski: They are very good and into their second year of lessons. My granddaughter wants to get into ski racing which her Poppy and uncles were into.

Leaning is something skiers seem to do naturally.
Mary MacADNski: Waiting was a problem that day.

He's got it covered...
Mary MacADNski: Probably looking at the girls.
Doesn't he look cute in all that gear.
Mary MacADNski: We know he's safe and warm but we cannot see his face. I assume he's smiling under there.
A very sensible young man!
Mary MacADNski: Kids always seem to be waiting in so many lessons. My granddaughter loved swim team except that she was cold from waiting so much.

He seems well kitted out, I hope he didn't have to wait too long.
Mary MacADNski: He is dressed for safety and warmth. There was a lot of waiting that day. Not all the runs were open for club or public use as there was a tournament taking up a hill and staff.

I love his short skies. I get he can turn really well on those. During my time ski-ing, I've seen the length decrease form something just over head height to those up to my chin. Perhaps they were re-designed to provide somewhere to rest your head?
Mary MacADNski: Ha ha. The family has season passes so with that comes a great children's program. In late fall the park opens for all member kids to come get kitted out with new skis and boots for the season at no charge. Skis or boots can be changed at anytime throughout the season for growth or other considerations. They pass in gear at the end of the season and repeat every year.
Lovely trio of pics.

Funnily enough although i love the song I like the original least of all the versions. I think John Prine and Chris Smither's are my favorite versions
Mary MacADNski: So many people have done this song. I liked this one and do like the C. S one. JP does everything well.
i just love your shots of your grandson all decked out in his skiing outfit Mary....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: He was one happy fellow. Insisted on going last weekend even when he wasn't feeling well.
smile I guess it's hard to bear the weight of the helmet all day. I just can not stand it, became a bond I would stop skiing
Mary MacADNski: With children you have no choice. It is the law.
Smart lad.
Mary MacADNski: I thought so. Waiting is tough.
