photoblog image July Scene

July Scene

A straight conversion.  I did a greyscale that was wonderful but I love this straight conversion which tells so much about your shooting mistakes.

Van Morrison is advertising a new album. I listened to the one sample with interest as he is again featuring a Hammon organist like his great album with Georgie Fame.  All standards - I am excited!

Both are lovely, Mary - the lighting is great!
And both versions of this song are great.... though my dear husband will favor Van, no doubt!
Mary MacADNski: The van album looks great as it mostly standards. The lighting is great but had it been poor, the b/w would let you know.

Hmmmmm! I am not seeing a long list of shooting mistakes here, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I should have said that differently. This one is fine but if you have shooting mistakes, b/w will let you know immediately.
Both have their own qualities, Mary, but I prefer the colour version. For the first time I can remember I'm going to be two albums behind of Van...He's become prolific!
Mary MacADNski: It is great that we can stream music without having to buy it. Sadly only one song is yet available to stream at the link. The colour version is much warmer. Thanks.
I didn't think you made shooting mistakes, Mary... smile

Light, texture, shadows...this has it all.
Mary MacADNski: The straight conversion worked very well here.

No problems with either picture, Mary. We are always hard on our own work

The top image is certainly dramatic
Mary MacADNski: It is very dramatic so to me it worked.
As most are saying, Mary, both are wonderful and worthy of showing side by side!
Mary MacADNski: Next Monday has three versions side by side, a different photo of course.

I like to compare the two images. I am surprised Van is making a new album. I like George Benson’s song.
Mary MacADNski: Van always has a new album on the go. He is prolific. The new album is of standards, not new songs. I surely hope I can see him in England in Sept. Could you perhaps invite him to Tiff's birthday party as the entertainment? smile. Check out George Benson's version of Unchained Melody....
The colour works best here for me Mary
Mary MacADNski: Much warmer image for sure.

The fall of light makes it a great b&w. Love it.
Mary MacADNski: I love the b/w too.
I think the b.& W.version has a lot more impact Mary although the light on the flower heads in the lower picture is really nice.
Mary MacADNski: As usual, each version has it's good points. Thanks, Brian.

A likey to me, Mary. The B&W one. THAT is a great picture.
I do LOVE the colours in the 2nd picture, don't get me wrong. Today I am more for the drama wink....
On a sombre day I need the colour to lighten the mood.

yes, black & white or greyscale really leaves the eye to explore the details, so anything awry will be seen automatically

i really like the color for this one because the light across the soft color palette is so inviting
It came out well, Mary!

Shooting mistakes? What are they? Haha!! As much IO like the pretty flowery things (lupins?) I was attracted to the wooden shingles on the shed behind.
This time I prefer the color version, in my opinion we should lighten a bit 'shadows on black and white.
i like the juxtaposition of all the lines and patterns, Mary.
