photoblog image Moss or Lichen Friday

Moss or Lichen Friday

Rather than a boat, this Friday features common lichen.

The black one is lecidea tessellata and the grey is a leafy foliose lichen.

They are on a rock in my garden and freeze or bake there depending on our seasons.

What rhymes with moss?  The Boss....

In six months, I will probably be returning from England and have not made one plan.  Any help out there?

Great texture...
They're beautiful aren't they - great photos - and I'm so happy you've identified them!
Can't beat the Boss! smile
We've not made any plans yet except to be there and spend at least one, if not two nights in the area before heading home to Fleetwood. I'm sure Chris, Chad, Bill or Lisl will be of more help to you (us) smile

i love it on rocks in my garden, but hate what it does to grave marker
Lichen and moss really fascinate me, Mary. I have a feeling they're both a vital part of our environmental health.

The lichen looks like pale lava running from a volcano. Great shots.

'They freeze or bake'.... those are the tough ones, Mary. I love the pattern they make on the rocks.
I always think Lichen is an amzing plant, give it time and it will grow almost anywhere.
A decidedly particular image, it seems like a work of art.

Lichen is always interesting. I'm clueless when it comes to identifying them but I know that make for a good photo - as here.
I do like lichen, they can be little works of art.
