photoblog image Reflection on Stone

Reflection on Stone

It is all about stone this week.

This example is from a cemetery.

There are pros and cons to removing moss and lichen from gravestones.

After last week's post I decided to redo the black and white version with a filter.

i would never figured it out, without you saying; particularly in the greyscale version
I think I like the color version on this set - because I love the green of the moss against that lovely red stone.
Nice redo on the pigeons!

Personally I'd let the stuff grow..
The moss seems most appropriate for gravestones, Mary, right? i like it in color to see what it is.
The moss and Lichen will win in the end so why not just let then get on with it?

It is good to compare the two pictures, they convey different things.

I think the colour version wins, but only just!

Love the ducks!
For this one I prefer the colour one to be honest because the lichen shows up.
I think it's best to leave them alone, Mary. The coloured image really shows the green in beautiful contrast to the stone.
the coloured moss shows up better Mary... the third image explains about the lichensmile
....petersmile
in the Chinese community of Singapore and Malaysia, there is a tomb cleaning and sweeping ceremony at least once a year, Mary.
Results in an interesting abstract image.

The cons are no more nice mosses.... the pros are, a very well kept cemetery. Hmmm don't know what I like more as a photographer and I will be cremated anyway....
Great close-ups, Mary.
I love the pigeons!!!
I am looking forward to the series... and curious about the reasons not to remove moss and lichens...
Mary MacADNski: The mosses and lichens erode the stone and the mortars creating damage.

I like the B/W...such texture.
Mary MacADNski: I like the black and white best.
It took me a while to catch the reflection.
Mary MacADNski: I am the only who prefers the black.
