Winter Dry Dock

I am taking a break from Boat Friday for a while though of course will still show boats. People will soon start taking their boats out of the water for the winter so I am joining them. I know many of you hate the idea of a cruise but I would go on one in a heartbeat.

I saw the Poseidon Adventure at an impressionable age : - )

it's enormous !
Mary MacADNski: Ha ha. I like your answer.
Isn't it great!
I know so many people who have loved their cruise vacations... perhaps you should do it, Mary - before the seas all dry up...
Thanks for the Luka Bloom song!
Mary MacADNski: Cruising is fairly popular here but all inclusive weeks in southern resorts is most common. Luka (his name is made up) is great eh?

A floating city..
Mary MacADNski: It truly is. I would love to visit that city.

No a cruise isn't for me. I get restless on a canal boat!
Mary MacADNski: I love boats of all kinds and have been on other big boats but never a cruise liner.
Il est énorme.
Mary MacADNski: It is fairly big.

That is some ship there... well maybe one day, Mary and where would you like to go??
Mary MacADNski: I would like to go to the North. Peter just showed some of his shots at the glaciers he saw on his Alaskan cruise.

I think it is all about picking the right cruise and the right line. Have fun.
Mary MacADNski: They certainly advertise lots of them here.

These cruise ships oozes luxury. But one is way too restricted on board and I can't lay in the sun the whole day. So you guess it - I prefer a road trip.
Mary MacADNski: I think it would feel like a real get-away. Leave phones and ipads at home.
These cruise ships always look top heavy to me, but of course I don't know how far under the water the crews quarters are smile
Mary MacADNski: This one has a shape that suggests that. There is no water line visible so all is well.
I like the picture and it is a reasonably sized ship compared with some but Maureen and I don't really fancy a sea cruise although a river cruise on the the rivers of Europe really does appeal.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, those look lovely. They advertise them here and I remember ginnie and Astrid going on one.
nice, ships are always a pleasant subject
Mary MacADNski: I have a few lined up from habit even though I said I was taking a break! LOL

Love to be on that!!
Mary MacADNski: I would too though it was just doing a New England/ Atlantic Canada autumn leaves tour.
I have no problem with cruises, Mary, but have chosen smaller and smaller ones over time. The Viking River Cruise was only 200 passengers. That was very nice, with friends I'm still in touch with!
Mary MacADNski: I can see what you mean. I think a smaller one would be good too.

A cruise ship doesn't appeal to me Mary, though I did hear of one that takes place on the mail boats of Norway and goes through the fjords, now, I might just be persuaded to go on that (but only if the sea is calm!)
Mary MacADNski: The Norwegian fjords would be a similar choice for the arctic or Alaskan one. You can't exactly drive there.

Each to their own, Mary. My brother and his wife love them; they are off again next Friday. At least this ship is smaller than most of those that come into Southampton.
Mary MacADNski: I would definitely love the experience.
I am one of those who would hate a cruise. trapped with all those people for days on end.
Mary MacADNski: You could meet new people each day.
i love your cruise ship Mary... as you know... Penny and i have been on several cruises... you will have to go on one... you can see the world and not have to pack your bags every morningsmile
....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I like that idea of not having to unpack.
