Red Dress Reversal

Sometimes a simple grey frock will do.

I know I have told Bill in a comment but here is a strange fact.  My mother liked all of my music when I was growing up in the sixties but she did not like The Moody Blues.  I did not understand it then and still don't.  She liked Dylan, Hendrix, and Joplin, all known for rather grating performances but she did not like the Moody Blues.

I love this!
Mary MacADNski: I would like to post flowers all year.
I do think I prefer the monochrome... it has a silvery fluidity!
Well - to each their own... I personally like the MB's!
Mary MacADNski: Seems about half and half, so far.

both are so beautiful

i think the full color one looks lush, while the greyscale has a drama about it
Mary MacADNski: I find what you say about the differences quite true.
J'aime la couleur flamboyante de la deuxième photo.
Mary MacADNski: A red dress has it's uses too.
you can almost feel motion in this.
prefer the B&W smile
Mary MacADNski: So glad you saw that!

I'm sure you're right Mary
Mary MacADNski: Always, Chris.
Too bad we can't change the color of our clothes with a few tweaks like this, Mary, right?! HA!
Mary MacADNski: I had two t shirts that changed colour with body heat.

Both pictures have their beauty, Mary and I love that you do that...I had to smile about the choices of your mom, but then, music is very personal. I absolutely LOVE Queen and when Freddy died I recorded hours and hours of the interviews and music for weeks and have a lot of that still on VHS-tapes. Now there is the movie of Bohemian Rhapsody, I will NOT go to see it, I know the music and I know the story, but I want to have the memory of Freddy and not some "look a like" how well done it might be.....

Mary MacADNski: Here is part of Philine's comment - right after yours:" One week ago I saw a dance homage to the Queen, and I want to see the new film about Freddie Mercury which is said to be congenious."

To be honest, I like more the b&w image. One week ago I saw a dance homage to the Queen, and I want to see the new film about Freddie Mercury which is said to be congenious.
Mary MacADNski: I repeated your comment to Astrid as she loves Queen.

The Moody Blue were one of my favourite banda with your chosen song being one of my favourites from them. I'm sure you're right about the colour of the frock.
Mary MacADNski: They were my favorites. Question of |Balance is my favorite.

This flower has excellent sculptural form, shown best in b and w.
Mary MacADNski: I agree but sometimes a red dress is needed.

I think the detail seems even sharper in the grey version, Mary. Both are so beautiful
Mary MacADNski: I find the b/w (here greyscale) to often seem sharper yet it is a straight conversion with no other twiddles.
Whilst I like both versions of the flower the red one just takes it for me. Great video, sadly I can sit here and sing the whole song! Yesterday we had the annual lunch time get together of me and two of my closest friends from school in the 50's.and afterwards, and wives of course. We all live a long way from each other and each drive about 50 miles to a great pub we know for lunch. Funny how when we get there we just seem to carry on where we left off 50 years ago, they would love to hear this video I'm sure.
Mary MacADNski: I can sing all of the MB's songs. I adored them all and played them a lot - thus my mother's dislike, I suppose.

That grey frock is a sublime shot. Myself do like Moody Blues - so can hardly understand someone not liking them. Except some mantra that it takes all kinds ...

My mother was an opera and classic fan - dragged my dad along to performances. Dad, he liked the hits from his age "Yellow bird up high in a banana tree" is one I remember.
Mary MacADNski: I have to accept that it takes all kinds. I would have understood Frank Zappa or Dylan but.... I like music of all kinds.
I think the colour version is a knockout on this occasion!

The black and white version works best for me.

in my eyes, flowers always look good in colour, but i like form and the textures seen in the b/w, Mary.
I much prefer the colour version Mary...I heard it said that the Moody blues didn't make seven albums...Just one album seven times....smile
Works well as either Mary.

I always liked the Moody Blues but they were a bit pretentious and their music was overproduced. I seldom play it now but once in a while the old vinyl comes out!
