Abandoned Music
comments (21)
That has certainly seen better days. Where did you find this?
Mary MacADNski: Ifound this in an old barn with an old sleigh as well.
It just screams "help me!" doesn't it?
Mary MacADNski: Help me!!!
nice shot, your title says it all.
Mary MacADNski: I grew up with one of these in the house.
Very well spotted and photographed Mary. The photo could perhaps do with a bit more contrast, or even a mono treatment of some kind (not necessarily though), but otherwise, certainly very nice indeed. Kind regards, Neil.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Neil
I like the photo but it makes me sad to see a piano in such sorry shape.
Mary MacADNski: I just had a thought. Mice running through the back might make music on it yet.
That's sad...but it's a nice shot, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It makes me wonder why it was abandoned.
My mom just turned over in her grave, Mary. Oh my. She was such an accomplished pianist in her day.
Is this a piano or an organ? I see those stops and think organ. Are there pianos that have those as well? What a sad but fabulous find.
Mary MacADNski: It's an organ. I grew up with one just like it. I wish I knew the story about it.
Looks like this hasn't been played in a while. What a shame.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, quite a long while, I'd say.
nice concept..
Mary MacADNski: Hope to get one up of the abandoned sleigh.
somehow sad...
Mary MacADNski: sad but reality, eh?
Thank goodness they didn't abandon this out of doors, it looks like a collector's piece and is restorable
Mary MacADNski: If not restorable, it could certainly be used for parts.
Mary, me gusta como juegas con la música y la imágen. Pienso que eres una gran aficionada a la música. Me gusta cuando llego a tu blog, dejar de fondo la canción que has elegido, mientras miro tu fotografía. Gracias por ello !
Mary, I like as you play with music and the image. I think that you are a great fan to music. I like when I arrive at your blog, to leave of bottom the song that you have chosen, while I watch your photography. Thanks for that reason!
Mary MacADNski: Jose-Angel, I am so happy that you like the music. I love music very much and like to share it. I think it accompanies photographs very well.
Jose-A'ngel, soy tan feliz que usted tiene gusto de la música. Amo música mucho y tengo gusto de compartirla. Pienso que acompaña las fotografías muy bien.
Not pretty...but very graphic. I like your title, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Ray.
seems a shame that this organ will not play again, quite a sad image. mal but I like that. mal
Mary MacADNski: There is an old sleigh in the barn too. Yes, sad.
Hi Mary - Sorry to be so late in my visits and to your comments
A very nice shot, a bit sad too ! I like very much this old organ. A bis as if the music is still in the air as a ghost !
Mary MacADNski: I feel that music too.
What a great shot and subject...you can't help wondering about the story behind it...
Mary MacADNski: I would like to know that story too.
Great subject & good narrative. B/W version would be good...
Mary MacADNski: I think you're right about B & W and sepia might work too.
Very evocative photo...I disagree with Dave though; the pale hint of color adds to the mood.
Mary MacADNski: I like the colour too, Patrushka.
Where I learnt about organs they called a contraption like this one a harmonium. The purists believe an organ must have pipes and mechanical coupling. But final interpretation resides in the language and application in a specific culture. Just sharing something I am aware of.
I have a brother-in-law who restores these organs. Long process with beautiful results. Anyhow I consider this to be an excellent picture of decay that your title hints at. Type of thing that you can frame and hang in your music room.
Mary MacADNski: I grew up with one of these things and we used to call it a pump organ because of pedals. What interesting work (or hobby) for your brother-in-law!
Buscando una foto relacionada con la caseta de hoy he encontrado esto que me ha llamado la atención ! Me gusta esta belleza antigua!
Looking for a photo related to the today house I have found this that has called me the attention! I like this old beauty!
Mary MacADNski: You were very smart. This is the barn that the old organ was in.
Usted era muy elegante. Éste es el granero que el viejo órgano estaba adentro.
I love it. This is a beautiful shot.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Michael. There was an old sleigh in the barn too in much the same condition. Such a shame!
