Are these the low-tide lowlands, Mary? Will water start flowing in any minute now? In the meantime, the "gathering" can take advantage of what the moist sand offers, I'm sure. I'd gather there, too, if I were a bird!
Mary MacADNski: This is the bay I live on and it is tidal with two low and two high tides a day. Usually June has the lowest tide of the year and the day before this photo, that was the case. I was there at dead low so slowly the bay will fill up again and in 6 hours it is again, high tide.
The rhythm of the sea.
Very nice shot, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I love that rhythm and the way you can set your clock. It's like the moon. It will always come through.
A place enjoyed by gulls and camera-toting Island Walkers.
It is a little like Louis's pic today, although the palette is entirely different.
Mary MacADNski: I agree about Louis' photo. The thumbnail is even more similar. Would you believe I am reading a book right now called 'Island Walkers?' Turns out the character's last name is Walker. Duh!
Nice low tide shot. Did you splash your way through these puddles when you were done taking the photo?
Mary MacADNski: Tomorrow shows I'm in the water.
What a beautiful and serene view Mary with these birds right in the middle of your picture.
It would be interesting to see the same view at high tide!
Mary MacADNski: I rarely go to the beach at high tide unless I'm specifically going to swim. If I do......
That is what I like about tides, it changes the land/seascape every minute if we pay attention, love the wide view, you live in a nice surrounding.
Mary MacADNski: I love tides too Like the phases of the moon, you can depend on them.
Wonderful feeling of space and quiet Mary. Nice way to start my day
Mary MacADNski: I wish I had a wide angle lens to really show what the eye sees.
Etonnant, cette grande étendue me rappelle la baie du Mont Saint Michel, la photo est magnifique !
Mary MacADNski: La plupart des compartiments de marée sembleraient semblables. La marée était extrêmement - basse ce jour.
Lovely expansive view Mary, well captured.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Aussie. I don't get to the beach much lately - I'm working too hard.
what a great nature place
Mary MacADNski: It's a fabulous spot - and no one else goes there.
I like the layers of colour
Mary MacADNski: It's strange how the texture of the sand and seaweed makes this look grainy but it is not.
A wonderful sense of calm and tranquility. I can almost hear the distant surf and gulls in the air.
Lovely
Mary MacADNski: It certainly was calm and tranquil. I'm about the only person who ever ventures here.
I would be digging for clams if i were there.
Mary MacADNski: There are a few razor clam here but you'd have to go somewhere else for softshell or bar clams. Clammers were out in force those low tide days.
It's always interesting t osee how the water soon reclaims these areas when the tide comes in. In the meantime, it seems to provide rich pickings for the gulls.
Mary MacADNski: I love watching it come in. It's so subtle yet before you know it water covers everything again.
Snap!
Great view from here
Mary MacADNski: Our photos were similar today.
