The pollen beating anthers of lilies are often cut off the flowers when they are brought into a house.  They can stain clothing or furnture if one is not careful.  To me this is the most beautiful part of the lily so I never cut them offf.

We have to cut them off as our Helen is asthmatic and wheezes within range of them!

I've never heard of those bits being cut off Mary, it is a lovely plant.
Mary MacADNski: It is a usual practice. Though lilies are common you rarely see pollen on them. Ruins ans stains the arrangement. You will see staining tomorrow. Alma is visiting an dhelping me type.
Those are fantastic! However, they do make a mess if you aren't careful, don't they?
