Friendly Fisherman

I told a few of you in comments last Friday that I would tell you a story that involved this fisherman. Here is my fish tale.

This fisherman and his dad went out at 3am on Saturday morning for their days work.  Knowing that my son is an avid fisherman, he called him and a few others at 9 am to tell him that there was a huge mackeral run on the river and that there would be excellent fishing off the bridge.  He had seen this at 3 am and hoped that conditions would still be the same. My son called a few others including myself and offered to pick me up if I wanted to go.

He had a rod all ready for me but I was happy to try for my catch with just the camera.  It was unbelievable! The river looked like it was boiling. My son caught 77 mackerel in 45 minutes.  He, who does not eat fish at all,  filled a lot of freezers.  My share went straight to the freezer as I was leaving to attend with the new baby so I've not had any yet.

The young fisherman came up to see us after he finished his work.  He had never seen such a sight here himself and was going home for a rod.

Great anecdote, Mary, and an excellent image to go with it.
Mary MacADNski: I got quite a few shots of it coming in that day.
That's one of the best fish tales I've heard in a long time!! And seriously - have you ever met a Charlie that wasn't friendly?! smile
Mary MacADNski: Ha! Charlie wasn't on the boat that day.
It is nice the see Charlie's Ark close-up Mary... and i always love a good fishing story... thanks....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Peter. Have you ever seen a mackerel run?

Nice picture of Charlie and his boat! Mackerel can be very tasty fish and are very good for you
Mary MacADNski: This is Charlie's brother and his dad is driving the boat. Charlie was not on'er that day. My mom's favorite fish was mackerel. I love it too.
Great story. i love mackerel. My mother used to cook them in a mixture of vinegar and water and whatever in the oven and then we would eat them cold for breakfast.....I can taste them now grin
Mary MacADNski: I do them a couple of ways, one being in a sauce based on oranges. Yum! I have bought the canned mackerel to eat cold for lunch.
Very nicely illustrated anecdote Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard.
and where are Charlie's angels...
Mary MacADNski: This is Charlie's brother and his dad is driving the boat.
A great Boat Friday tale and photo.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Jacquelyn.

A good story, Mary, and a fine image to accompany it. I like the light int his. Is that Charlie with the rope or is he steering?
Mary MacADNski: Charlie was missing this day. His brother has the rope and their dad was driving.

What an exciting fish story, Mary. Is that Charlie on his Ark?
Mary MacADNski: Charlie's brother and father were tending the Ark that day. Charlie wasn't aboard.
A fantastic shot Mary! I'd have high tailed it over there, with that news!
Mary MacADNski: It was awesome! I've never seen anything like it.
My son too would have been down there with his rods in a flash Mary, he has just spent 5 days away fishing at a local venue and only caught one tiny little thing! I envy you the Mackerel when you begin to raid the freezer.
Mary MacADNski: My son was in heaven. The funny thing is that no one else showed up though some could have come after us. We were there only an hour.
A great photo and a cool story. What a generous guy...
Mary MacADNski: I thought he was great to do that. He came up onto the bridge with us when he was finished work.
I wonder how he managed to get all the animals on?
Mary MacADNski: With traps.
What an amazing story. You'll all be extremely healthy after all that mackerel. And a great picture.
