Garden Spider

Speaking of scary creatures, I mentioned a couple of years ago that I was part in both a documentary and a book about fossils of PEI. The doc was released in three parts last year and recently in this condensed version for schools. The book, Island at the Centre of the World,   was published last summer.  It was authored by John Calder, the white-haired geologist featured within the doc.

Scary monsters !
Care MacADNski: Fluffy little garden spiders? Not dangerous in the least.
Oh such a beauty!

I enjoyed the documentary! Will you be in one of the second two parts?

Those markings say I am dangerous!
Care MacADNski: Not at all, just a common garden spider.

It looks huge.
Care MacADNski: It is not really. The camera makes this object appear closer than it is.
A handsome spider and an interesting documentary. Are you the one who found the footprint?
Care MacADNski: A long time ago now...
What a colourful spider. I will come back to watch the video.
Care MacADNski: I am not keeping it up long.

I think the markings may just be a pretence as to be dangerous so as to deter predators. The close up is remarkable. for its detail. I'll catch up with the video later.
Care MacADNski: Yes, it is a harmless spider though I agree it does look scary. I am taking th video down soon.
Fine pic and fascinating video!
Care MacADNski: Another similar fossil to mine was found recently. It brought this back to my attention.
