Fox Friday

Foxes are living nearby and we see one every day.

It is unusual to see just one.

Here is a link to a cool fox story in Newfoundland:

I featured this artist last year when he won the the Canadian Polaris Prize. Last week, Jeremy Dutcher won a Juno Award for his album. He is a classical pianist who made this album featuring tapes found in some archives of an almost lost language of his people. He is coming to the UK in April. YouTube and his website (in the link) have all the cuts from this album.

Care MacADNski: Meadow voles are a steady diet for foxes and cause a lot of damage to our trees and gardens. Our old sheepdog/terrier hunted them.

Two years ago I lost the duck and her nest here. I am pretty sure I showed it.

The whole album is worth a listen.
Super shots Mary.
Care MacADNski: All of them are through windows, some with screens.

What a beautiful collage, Mary.
Care MacADNski: It seems to be a lone fox this year though we usually have a pair.
What a face!
Care MacADNski: The cats all know it.
Jolie présentation de ce bel animal.
Care MacADNski: It is very pretty, eh? Thank you!

Always so photogenic aren't they
Care MacADNski: I am surprised to have a loner this year after always having a pair.

Your fox pictures are one delight after another, Mary
Care MacADNski: I have plenty more, especially in the early, blue hour. They are always a bit fuzzy.

They are beautiful animals. Your collage shows it well. Is it of the same animal?
Care MacADNski: I think it is. Last year (and most others) there has been a pair but this one seems to be alone.
OMG. Seeing foxes like this every day, Mary, would feel like a miracle to most of us!
Care MacADNski: I have plenty more, especially in the early, blue hour. They are always a bit fuzzy so I only put a few.

I often wonder where we would be without foxes to clear away dead animals.
Care MacADNski: I like that they take meadow voles out of the gardens. The Nfld link shows just that so well. I did not show it here but I have one with it's nose in a squirrel hole that I have been watching all winter.

To me this is a wonderful animal with wonderful colours. Of course I don't know how much of a nuisance they are by killing chickens and attack your cats.
Care MacADNski: The meadow vole and other rodents are their winter prey but if times are tough they will definitely attack cats. I have the one here years ago that shows a fox chasing Kenz.

Once this winter I let Ruby out with a fox beside the step but I did not know until I closed the door then looked out the window! I ran outside and chased Foxy away.
Very good series of shots Mary.
Care MacADNski: I have plenty of the blue hour shots and like them though they are fuzzy.
They are fairly common in Sheffield - saw one trotting across our back yard a few weeks ago.
you have presented us with a whole lot of fantastic shots of the foxes living near you Mary... thanks....petersmile
