Down on Her Luck

I was very surprised to come across this boat on it's side.  It's interior looks totally rotten.

C'est bizarre de le voir en pleine terre.
Care MacADNski: It must have fell over in the wind.

Yes...makes me feel a little sad!
Care MacADNski: It is in sad shape.
That does seem odd... poor thing
Care MacADNski: I even wonder if it was seaworthy.
Always sad to see boats like this, strange as the superstructure looks good.
Care MacADNski: It may have been rebuilt at some time.

You get the feeling, don't you, that its cruising days are over..
Care MacADNski: The wooden boats do not last forever.

It looks huge. I wonder how it got there?
Care MacADNski: I am thinking someone was going to rebuild it. It fell over off blocks, probably with winds.
I wonder what the story behind this is?
Care MacADNski: I am guessing the wind blew it over. It doesn't look seaworthy. Perhaps someone will restore it.
It looks to be some way from the water, too!
Care MacADNski: All boats are taken out of the water for the winter here. A lot are kept at a person's home like this. Docks are taken up too. That weas why it was strange to see one still in water, like last Friday's shot.
It looks to be bigger than the building behind it, how sad to see it in such a state.
Care MacADNski: I am hoping the owner was going to restore it.

With a boat being an expensive item, this kind of decay means there must be a (tragic) story behind it. In the Dutch canals there are many boats, obviously rotting away on there moorings. I always wonder.
a fixer upper Mary....petersmile
It doesn't look to be a total loss, Mary. Some interior restoration and perhaps a new paint job.
