Time Travellers

The ancient apple trees around my 200 year old farmhouse are living the end of their lives. I have been documenting them for the 35 years I have lived here but find it most important to really get some last photos before they all go.

One wonders how long this bent nail has been in the trunk. My house is make with hand-made square nails and this nail looks machine made, so probably not 200 years old.

What a find - and it makes for some wonderful photo's. I'm sorry your trees are dying... I guess every good thing must come to an end.

How sad that they are at the end of their lives, but how lovely that you have been able to watch their ives all this time.
The nail looks like a hook that might have had something hanging from it at one time. How lucky you are to be living in a home of that age. They don't build them like that today. Sad to see old trees reach their end.
One wonders what the nail was put there for in the first place
It looks pretty ancient, Mary - are you going to be replacing the trees?
