Eagle Visit

A friend and I had just sat down with a beverage when an eagle settled in and joined our relaxation. I got my camera and took a few shots, when a red-winged blackbird started harassing our large visitor.  Within a few minutes the eagle took off, chased off by the single red-wing.

Magnifique oiseau joliment présenté.
Care MacADNski: He was looking for baby ducks.
i enjoyed the photos and the text about the interaction between the birds, Mary
Care MacADNski: Thanks, Ayush. It could have been a different story had the eagle taken one of the little ducks. I was happy for the interference of the blackbird.
Wow, great shots Mary.
Care MacADNski: Thanks, Frank. Better than TV.
What a wonderful thing to witness, Mary!
This young lady has a very smooth voice.
Care MacADNski: Built in entertainment right on the door step.

The blackbird should ha e had more sense.
Care MacADNski: I was happy for the blackbird. He was protecting his babies or eggs and he saved one more duckling. We are down to two from seven less than two weeks ago.

What a bird! But others don't like 'em, just as our large raptors are chased off by smaller birds here in the UK..
Care MacADNski: The blackbird was protecting his babies or eggs. Most importantly he saved one more duckling. We are down to two from seven less than two weeks ago.
size does not always matter in the survival battle
Care MacADNski: I hope it does. My cats are so heavy they can't be picked up by eagles. Ducklings can easily be grabbed.

What a sight! Great pictures!
Care MacADNski: I love the entertainment here.
I just can't imagine sitting out in the garden when an Eagle lands on a nearby tree, you've captured both birds very well and made an excellent presentation.
Care MacADNski: I made some gifs of the eagle flight too.

Such beautiful birds and masters off the sky. I do know, though, that they like being hassled so I'm not surprised that it took off.
Care MacADNski: I have never thought of them as liking to be hassled. I think they would prefer a nice duck dinner.

Well done, Mary - what superb pictures of the eagle, and the hassling brave redwing
Care MacADNski: Mr. Redwing saved his mate's nest and another duckling. Ducks have had a very bad go of it the last few years after over thirty years of peace.
what a great capture of the action Mary.... i have a hard time photographing eagles except when they are soaring overhead....petersmile
Care MacADNski: This one posed, luckily.
They are certainly a handsome bird.
Care MacADNski: They are so powerful! That's what I see. I have done one eagle painting and it's power and intelligence could be felt.

Excellent catch, Mary! Pleased that the redwing was able to chase the eagle away. A happy ending.
