Windy Day

On the 10th of November, a fairly windy day, I was in Souris and saw the ferry to the Magdalen Islands.

I believe it runs all year, weather-permitting.

Very nice images of a stormy sea... and the haunting music is a wonderful accompaniment!
Care MacADNski: It was so cold and windy that day! We were going to a warm place though. About the music, you never know what you're going to get with Patrick Watson.
it does look blustery, Mary.
Care MacADNski: It was blustery and very cold! We are warmer today at +3 and no wind.
Le soleil n'est pas au rendez-vous.
Care MacADNski: She was away for the day. Mr Wind came to the party instead. smile

Now you see it

Now you don't
Care MacADNski: It was so cold that day!

That sea looks rather rough..
Care MacADNski: Oh, it was and very cold too with the wind off the water. Luckily we were on our way to a warm barn full of lambies.
I think I would be seasick grin
Care MacADNski: I would definitely be seasick. I chaperoned a grad 6 class to the Magdeleines many years ago and a few kids got seasick. I had to take care of them and was not well myself.
I'm sure I'd like a ride on that ferry, Mary.
Care MacADNski: I have been to the islands thirty some years ago but do not remember if this was the boat.

That is rough weather, Mary and I know these ferry's are the lifeline from one port to the other port so it has a kind of duty to go all year, but if it is not safe, then that changes the story.
Great shots.
Care MacADNski: I thin it does stop altogether some winters but we have less ice now. When the ferries close these islanders have to come and leave by air - very expensive.

Unless I am very much mistaken I do believe this is an older ship. I do like it.
Care MacADNski: I have been to the islands thirty some years ago but do not remember if this was the boat. I chaperoned a sixth grade class there and dealt with seasickness. Not a picture taken!

Yes, a very proper and great looking ferry, the lifeline from one island to the other.
Care MacADNski: That is it exactly. When the ferries close these islanders have to come and leave by air - very expensive.

Even in a boat that size, I would only be happy if the sea was calm!
Care MacADNski: I would not have wanted to be boarding. I actually would probably cancel my passage if I could. To me this looks like seasickness would be inevitable. No thanks.

That's a smart little ferry, Mary
Care MacADNski: The ferries that have the longer journeys, like this one, are different than short distance runners. This would have private rooms of some kind.
I've learnt about some islands I'd not been aware of before today, that's the joy of SC, always learning new things.
Care MacADNski: Yes, you probably saw St Pierre and Miquelon as well as Les Iles... Fascinating all three, two of whom belong to France.

The ferry looks quite large; it seems around the same size as those which run between England and France.
Care MacADNski: This has a longer journey so would be equipped with berths or private spaces for sale.

Strong winds tufting the waves. We call it White horses running", because the water reminds one of flowing manes.
Care MacADNski: That is an interesting saying. Looking out in the bay away from the harbour it was large whitecaps.
A handsome, well-maintained vessel!
Care MacADNski: It is sleek looking and somehow looks fast.
It looks an exciting day to be near the sea.......but not for a boat ride smile
Care MacADNski: I am in agreement there. I am glad I was not heading to this ferry to board.
