Spirit

I am a bit late with a tribute to John Mann, frontman of the Canadian Band, Spirit of the West, and a film and television actor. He died on the 20th of November from early onset Alzheimers at age 57.

He was very open and public about his diagnosis at age 50 and to anyone associated with this dementia, the publicity was welcome. My mother lived 8 years after her diagnosis and died at 60. The family suffers longer than the victim but with the same intensity.

Rest In Peace John Mann.

I have played Spirit of the West's famous Canadian anthem, Home For a Rest, many times here before. I think I may have shown this tribute video of a concert in his honour in 2017. I seem to remember saying that John is the one in the white shirt dancing and snapping his fingers. I recently read that in the last couple of years he snapped his fingers to music until they developed blisters.

The next video is an excellent one from 2014 when the band visited the UK.

Care MacADNski: Mama has that well covered.
Ils sont drôles cachés dans l'herbe.
Care MacADNski: They are looking up to heaven
Your cat has brought you flowers. Dementia and Alzheimers is the illness of the 21st century. Your mother was so young.
Care MacADNski: We were already losing her quite a few years before her death. That was the hard part.
this is a wonderful memorial to John... i loved the videos Mary... and the sunflowers presented to him by cat...petersmile
Care MacADNski: Thanks, peter. It was very sad to lose John Mann.

It's important to honor the fallen. It seems so unfair to end a life with such sadness.

The last photo has amazing cat eyes.
Care MacADNski: Thank you, Bonnie. Early onset dementia holds a very sad prognosis. I love that last shot . Thanks.

Black cats are often said to be related to spirits.
