Fair Weather Clouds

Potato planting had happened in this neighbourhood field in early June, a little late for the season. Potatoes are up and growing well in the field now.

a charming scene especially with the billowing clouds, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: After a week of rain, today looks just like above but cooler.
Jolis dessins des sillons. Le ciel aussi est très beau.
Mary MacADNski: PEI at it's spring best.
Nice shots Mary, Lonnie Donnegan was a BIG star in the U.K. when I was a kid. A very influential person to many artists.
Mary MacADNski: I remember him from back then too. This is one of my favorite Van albums. Every playlist I ever create usually has any song from it.
Ahhhh that gorgeous copper soil!!! Love these!

What a trio!!
Mary MacADNski: I showed shots of this field in extreme sunset one year, with my neighbours harvesting bales. I must put them side by side.

This is a great album!

How orderly is the countryside. I like the dips and curves here
Mary MacADNski: This is my neighbourhood which is really pretty.

A fine shot, just look at those clouds
Mary MacADNski: Friendly clouds, not like the ones that carry deluges like we have had for the last week.
How lovely that the rows upon rows follow the lay of the land, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It is the only way it can happen really. Each field makes a unique pattern.

Wonderful point of view here, Mary. I love the touches of green between the red soil. What a great point of view.
Mary MacADNski: These green patches prevent run-off. To the left, across the road, is the river. We don't want pesticide-laden soil to reach the rivers.
A fine bit of ploughing
Mary MacADNski: Yes, newly planted potatoes. My neighbours farm this land on non-potato years. We have strict land rotations.

A great image Mary, I love those clouds but also the ploughed field.
Mary MacADNski: That field is all planted with potatoes. My neighbours farm this land on non-potato years. It is right in my neighbourhood.
A timely reminder of just how good the PEI fields look once the farmers are able to get going with this years crops.
Mary MacADNski: It is in my neighbourhood. Everything is late this year. Last year was similar, then heat and sun took over. Then the extremely early freeze-up and winter.

Lovely the colour and uniformity of the soil. Not a weed to be seen! .

Agriculture remains a high risk business. What becomes worse is when the product prices don't live up to the risk.

I have family in the crop planting business. In a good year, they can't really live it up, as you don't know what the next year will bring.
i like your composition on both photos Mary... everything seems to be a little late this year....petersmile
